---- — Betty Lou (Saxion) Hollobaugh, 7266 W. Market Street, Mercer, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday (9-1-13) following a brief illness. She was 71.
Betty was born Aug. 4, 1942, one of four children to Harold Orr Saxion Sr. and Evelyn Charlotte Thompson Saxion.
She was raised in Sandy Lake and attended Lakeview Schools.
She married Thomas Norman Kelley Sr. on Feb. 28, 1961.
Although they ended the marriage by divorce they shared five children together.
On Jan. 16, 1971, she married Donald Raymond Hollobaugh Sr., whom she referred to as the love of her life.
Don went ahead of her to prepare her place in heaven on Dec. 8, 1998.
She was a giver and her greatest joy came from making people smile.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Sharpsville, where she served as a board member and a steward.
She spent 20 years as a certified nurse’s aide at John XXIII Home followed by years of home care and never thought of it as a job.
Anytime she could do for others she was happy.
She was often the one behind a stranger at the grocery store who paid the change when they were short, smiling and responding, “I’ll get my rewards in heaven.”
She loved picnics at the lake with family and friends, and listening to the church choir.
In her more recent years she loved fellowship at her church followed by Friday night movies with her daughter and granddaughters.
There was nothing she wouldn’t do for family and she saw everyone as family.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Thomas Kelly Jr. and his companion Sheryl Gearhart of Transfer, Theresa Summersgill and her husband Robert of Mercer, John Kelly of Mercer, Victoria McFeaters and her husband Kenneth of Sharon and Donald Kelley and his wife Angela of Washington state; nine stepchildren; several grandchildren; brothers, Don Saxion and his wife Linda of Texas, Harold Saxion and his wife Gale of Florida and a sister, Lois Eakin of Arkansas.
