Warren D. Hedglin

Reznor retiree belonged to Beloved Disciple church


---- — A graveside committal service with military honors will be held Thursday for Warren D. Hedglin, a resident for more than 50 years of 15 George Junior Road, Pine Township. He passed away Saturday evening, Sept. 7, 2013, in his residence. He was 89.

Mr. Hedglin was born Jan. 1, 1924, in the Village of Brent to Herman E. and Ruby A. Hedglin Hedglin.

He retired in 1987 from Reznor – a unit of Thomas & Betts, Mercer.

An Army veteran, Mr. Hedglin served during World War II in the 101st Airborne, earning a Purple Heart. He was a member of American Legion Post 220, Grove City; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7465, Number Two Mine.

He was a member of Church of the Beloved Disciple, Pine Township.

His wife, the former Pauline Sepik, whom he married Aug. 16, 1947, passed away March 7, 2009.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra Benalli, Jemez Springs, N.M.; four grandchildren, Heather Harrison, New Mexico; Matthew Shanahan, Texas; Christina Stavneak, Omaha, Neb.; and Joshua Hedglin, Brooklyn, N.Y.; two great-granddaughters, Anna and Amina Rose Stavneak; and a sister, Sandra Hockenberry and her husband John, Jackson Center.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Warren Joseph “Joe” Hedglin, 1994; a brother, Wilks Hedglin; and three sisters, Kathryn Flynn, Emma Keck and Harriet Bungar.
