The Rev. James A. Trusel

Pastor, Beaver County CYS retiree had family here


---- — BEAVER COUNTY – The Rev. James A. Trusel of South Beaver Township passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, Sept. 11, 2013. He was 86.

Rev. Trusel was born July 11, 1927, in New Castle, a son of Harry and Elsie Ramsey Trusel.

Rev. Trusel served many congregations in his career. He was pastor of St. John’s United Methodist and West Liberty United Methodist churches from 1962-80; and Bridgewater United Methodist Church from 1980-97; and was an associate pastor from 1997 to the present at Faith Community United Methodist Church, Rochester, Beaver County. Most recently, he was an associate pastor with First Congregational Church, Beaver Falls.

Rev. Trusel retired from Beaver County Children and Youth Services in 1992 and was co-founder of the Carpenter Corner Christian Book Store in Beaver.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 52 years, Patricia Sadler Trusel; and his sister, Polly Cross.

He is survived by: his four sons, J. Bradley Trusel and his wife Linda, Grove City; David Trusel and his wife Betsy, Jamestown, N.Y.; Barry Trusel, Butler; and R. Kelly Trusel and his wife Theresa, Oil City; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Elsie and her husband Lloyd Kerr, New Castle; and Robert Trusel, New Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3500 Brooktree Road, Suite 320, Wexford, PA 15090 (please note “Heritage Valley”).

Calling hours: Friends will be received from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday (9-15-13) in HUNTSMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES Inc., 502 Adams St.; and 10 a.m. to time of service Monday (9-16-13) in Faith Community United Methodist Church, Jefferson Street, both Rochester.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday in the church with the Rev. Dr. Pat Albright officiating.
