Joseph John Miller Sr.

Tube plant retiree served in Good Shepherd church


---- — A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday for Joseph John Miller Sr. of Shenango Township (Pulaski). He passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 12, 2013, at his residence, the result of a tractor accident. He was 68.

Mr. Miller was born Jan. 24, 1945, in Colver, Pa., to Regis Francis Miller and Martha Beatrice Weiland Miller.

He graduated from Central Cambria High School in Ebensburg, Pa.

Mr. Miller retired from Wheatland Tube Co. after 45 years of service in the steel industry.

As an active member of Church of the Good Shepherd in West Middlesex, he and his wife, the former Judith Anne Wolfe, whom he married Oct. 8, 1966, were teen advisors for 13 years. He currently served on the church Parish Council; was a member of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults; and was a Eucharist minister.

Surviving are: his wife, Judy, at the residence; a daughter, Lisa A. and her husband Kevin Donaldson, West Middlesex; two sons, Charles J. Miller and his wife Ann, West Middlesex; and Joseph J. Miller Jr. and his wife Jenny, Sharpsville; two brothers, Regis Miller and his wife Fran; and William Miller and his wife Theresa, all Ebensburg; a brother-in-law, Edward Oswalt, Albion, N.Y.; three sisters, Patricia and her husband Eugene Schilling, West Middlesex; Martha “Mary” and her husband Francis Weiland, Nicktown, Pa.; and Linda and her husband John Vehovic, Ebensburg; and six grandchildren, Brenden Miller; Myrissa, Garrett and Delaney Donaldson; and Sydney and Chance Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dolores Oswalt.

Calling hours: Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday (9-15-13) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 3126 Main St., West Middlesex.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Monday (9-16-13) in Church of Good Shepherd, 3613 Sharon Road, West Middlesex, with Monsignor Robert M. Malene, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
