Greenville
• An accidental fire from a dropped cigarette caused minimal damage to a carpet and floor around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of the Donald Hammons family, 33 N. High St., Fire Chief Steve Thompson said.
Grove City
• Mark Murosky, 43, Union City, was charged with theft by deception and theft by unlawful taking Monday for stealing $500 of rent money from a Guys Mills woman in December 2007, police said.
• Jeff Maxwell, 41, of 1652 Butler Pike Road, Findley Township, was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, simple assault and harassment after allegedly striking a Grove City man on the head several times at about 1:40 a.m. Sept. 21 in the 1400 block of Carrie Way, police said.
Hermitage
• A Hermitage woman was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of South Hermitage Road, police said.
Lisa Pumphrey, 19, of 709 Emerson Ave., Farrell, pulled out of a private drive and her car collided with one driven by Judith Seaburn, 57, of 2202 Carolyn St., police said.
Ms. Seaburn was taken to UPMC Horizon, Farrell, police said. A spokeswoman for the hospital said Wednesday that she had no information on any patient by that name.
Police said Ms. Pumphrey was not injured and was cited for a traffic violation.
Mercer
• Four teens, ages 16 through 17, have been charged with burglary, trespassing, criminal mischief, theft and vandalism for taking a drum set, two camcorders, walkie talkies, wireless mics, and a computer tower between 2 and 3 a.m. Aug. 25 from Mercer Elementary School and IXL Center in Mercer, police said.
The youths also spray painted graffiti in the school and on outside walls of the center, police said.
• Alex Apod, 18, of 27 Watson Road, Mercer, and Timmy Register, 39, of 355 E. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, were charged at about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday with theft from a motor vehicle, attempted theft, criminal conspiracy, possessing instruments of crime and loitering after they tried to steal catalytic converters from vehicles parked in the 300 block of South Erie Street, police said.
