• Calvin Winchell, 35, of 479 B St., is accused of sexual assault against a 12-year-old girl from his West Hill neighborhood.
Winchell lured the girl to his home Friday evening by inviting her to bake cookies with him, police said. While she was there, he talked her into taking a bath while he watched and showed her a pornographic picture, police said.
Winchell ran from his home while police were talking to the girl’s family and he was arrested after a short chase, police said.
Winchell was charged with four counts of indecent assault of a person younger than age 13, two counts of corruption of minors and dissemination of sexual material to a minor. He was taken to Mercer County Jail on a parole detainer.
• Carl Arden Wheaton, 29, of 406 Delaware St., Sharon, is accused of possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His parole officer saw Wheaton, who is on probation on an earlier drug charge, in a car with a woman at about 1:10 p.m. Friday along East Budd Street, police said.
Wheaton threw a bag toward his passenger and it tested positive for cocaine, police said. He was taken to Mercer County Jail on a parole detainer.
• Someone stole fishing equipment valued at $1,065 from a shed at Vacationland Campground, Deer Creek Township, police said.
The items stolen from a Bakerstown, Pa., man’s unlocked shed included two fishing rods, a spinning reel, lures and other tackle, police said.
The theft was discovered early Sunday.
