• Gary Hackett is in jail after allegedly being found Monday afternoon in a Sharon man’s apartment with a television in his hands.
Hackett, 48, of 217 Logan Ave., was inside a house in the 400 block of B Street when the mother of the former tenant, who is in jail, arrived to remove her son’s property, police said.
She found Hackett holding a flat screen television. He put it down and ran, police said.
Based on her description, police a short time later arrested Hackett near his home. He was charged with burglary and theft after getting into the house through a broken basement window.
Hackett was also charged with driving under license suspension and taken to Mercer County Jail.
• Someone broke in through the back door Monday and ransacked a woman’s home in the 400 block of Malleable Street.
Police said the woman returned to find her television was missing, furniture had been turned over and cabinets had been searched. The victim was working on a list to determine what else may have been stolen in the burglary, police said.

• Anthony Kitt, 47, of 522 Beechwood Ave. Farrell; at 1:53 a.m. Tuesday on East State Street; also charged with driving under license suspension and driving on the wrong side of the road.
