Police, Fire for May 9, 2014

- — Greenville-West Salem Township

• Cherish M. Hauser, 30, of Jamestown, has been charged with theft  and possession of drug paraphernalia for stealing something at 8:47 p.m. Wednesday from Pizza Joe’s, 324 Main St., Greenville, and having a syringe on her when she was arrested in a car in a parking lot of another Main Street business, police said.

Hempfield Township

• Hope Peck, 49, of Adamsville, has been charged with cruelty to animals for leaving behind a dog locked in a cage with no food or water  May 1, when she moved from 53 Sixth Ave. to Adamsville, police said. The landlord found the dog May 4, police said.

• Tracy A. Dunn, 52, of 216 East Ave., Greenville, has been cited with harassment and disorderly conduct for throwing a stuffed deer head in a woman’s Southridge Road driveway and using obscene language, police said.

Hermitage

• Joseph P. Hunter, 35, of Youngstown, was arrested April 17 on charges filed in October of forgery, access device fraud and theft for cashing a $1,996 fraudulent check Sept. 28 at First National Bank in Walmart, 1275 N. Hermitage Road, police said.

Southwest Mercer County Regional

• Andrew A. Mastrian, 28, of 2006 Mary St., Farrell, has been charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension for having pot with him when he was stopped for a traffic violation at 9:17 p.m. Monday at Sharon New Castle Road and Mary Street, Farrell, police said.

State police

• Police said they stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at 9 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 80 westbound, Shenango Township, and found a large amount of cash in vacuum-sealed bags and evidence the vehicle had been used in an illegal drug trade.

• An alarm chased away a would-be burglar at 5:45 a.m. May 2 at Stoneboro Recycling, Lake Township, police said.

• Jeffrey J. Hall, 30, of Greenville, has been charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after an officer of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission saw him with paraphernalia at about 7 p.m. April 24 in Greenwood Township, Crawford County, and found a bag of pot in his vehicle, police said.
