Police, Fire from July 16, 2014

- — Greenville-

West Salem Township

• Joseph Paul Cresswell, 30, of 33 N. Race St., Greenville, was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harrassment after he punched a man in the face and head on the road at Greenville-Shenango and Race streets at 5:40 p.m. June 24, police said.

• Zachary P. Richards, 20, of 5 Washingtown St., Greenville, was charged on June 19 with receiving stolen property when he was found with a Taurus 410 revolver on May 20, police said.

• David Matthew Kuhn of 27 S. Mercer St., Greenville, was arrested June 24 after he slapped a woman on May 19 in the sub-100 block of Clinton Street, Greenville, when she would not give him money for drugs, police said. He was charged with assault and harassment.

• Nicole Priddy of West Salem Township was charged with receiving stolen property after she was identified as turning in a large number of vases to Greenville Recycling that were among 61 bronze vases, valued at $12,000, stolen from tombstone markers at Shenango Valley Cemetery and Good Hope Cemetery between July 3 and 10, police said.

Pymatuning Township

• Christopher Thomas West, 25, of 6797 Kane Road, Transfer, was charged June 26 with theft after he allegedly took a Remington pump rifle worth $900 from a home in the 100 block of Carrier Road at 5:20 p.m. April 15, police said.

• Chad M. Collins, 28, of 3882 McCracken Road, Salem, Ohio, was charged with forgery and theft by deception after he attempted to pass a counterfeit $100 bill, apparently a former five-dollar bill, for $40 worth of gas on May 13 at Sheetz, 270 Edgewood Drive Extension, Pymatuning Township, police said.

• Danny Allen Nale, 33, of 126 Baker Ave., Hermitage, at about 3 a.m. June 8 was charged with arson, criminal mischief, destruction of property, and criminal mischief by fire after he caused about $300 damage to a woman’s car during a gathering on 22nd Street Extension, police said.

Police said he ripped out the middle dash console with tools stolen from the homeowner’s garage, stole pills and tried to light the car on fire. The pill bottles were found on the roof of the garage, police said.


• Someone broke into an apartment between July 9 and 11 in the 300 block of East Connelly Boulevard while the resident was away and stole a washer, dryer, mattress and box springs, fish tank, clothes and a black and gold watch, police said.

• Aaron Phillips, 21, of 762 Cedar Ave., Sharon, was arrested at 1 p.m. Saturday for criminal trespass and a parole detainer for being at Willow Village apartment complex after he was banned from the property, police said.

• A theft of weapons was reported at 10:40 a.m. Monday by a resident in the 400 block of Ormond Avenue, that happened within the last three to six months, police said.

A Savage model, left-handed rifle with a scope and leather sling worth $700 and a Knights of Columbus ceremonial sword with a chrome scabbard worth $250 were missing from the home, police said.

South Pymatuning Township

• James E. Davis, 28, unknown address, was charged June 25 with harrassment, simple assault and disorderly conduct after he followed a man out to his car at 2:40 a.m. June 14 in the 7400 block of Orangeville Road, Sharpsville, punched him three times in the head, threw him down and punched him three times in the face, police said. The victim was treated for a cut on his lip and a broken nose, police said.
