- — Grove City

• Sarah Phenicie, 26, of Franklin was treated for minor injuries after her eastbound vehicle on Hillcrest Avenue was hit by a southbound vehicle on Edgewood Avenue on Friday, police said.

Police said a vehicle driven by Barbara Brannon, 39, of Fredonia, ran a stop sign on Edgewood. She was cited, police said.


• Shawn Croyle, 19, was arrested at about 6 a.m. Thursday at his home, 277 Elm Ave., following reports that he had been inside two nearby homes overnight, police said.

Residents in the 800 block of Pearl Street and 200 block of Euclid Avenue told police a man had entered their homes through unlocked doors and left when he was confronted.

Police followed tracks that led to Croyle’s home where he was arrested on charges of criminal trespassing and loitering and prowling at night. He was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post bond.

 • Ryan McGhee, 20, was charged after a domestic incident at about 1 a.m. Tuesday at his home at 42 Logan Ave., police said.

McGhee had hit a 43-year-old woman in the face, cutting her nose, police said. He was charged with simple assault and harassment, police said.

• Three teenage boys face charges in juvenile court after a homeowner called 911 at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday to report someone trying to break into a home in the 400 block of McClure Avenue.

Footprints led north across Connelly Boulevard to the Griswold Street area. They ran back across the freeway and were caught a short time later, police said.

The trio – 13, 14 and 15 years old – will face juvenile court charges of loitering and prowling at night, disorderly conduct and curfew violation, police said. The boys were returned to their parents’ custody.

 • A resident told police Monday afternoon that a television delivered to his home had been stolen on Friday.

The owner told police a 50-inch TV, valued at about $400, was taken from his porch between about 11:20 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Friday.

• Two men – one of them armed with a large kitchen knife – burst into an apartment at about 7 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Mesabi Street, police said.

When one occupant, a 55-year-old resident, answered a knock at the door, a light-skinned, husky black man about 6 feet tall dressed in black with a black skull cap waved the butcher knife, backed him into the apartment and demanded money, police said.

The attacker was accompanied by a white man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall who had a goatee and who was wearing a gray sweatshirt or hoodie, police said.

The black man ran to an upstairs bedroom where a 69-year-old woman had been sleeping. She told him she had no money and he took her cellphone and the men left the apartment, police said.

• Four people face charges after a disturbance at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday outside the public housing apartments on Mesabi Street.

Demetrius Odem, 23, West Mifflin, Pa.; Davonna Odem, 24, South Park, Pa.; Tomicka Pugh, 23, of 62 Baker Ave., Hermitage; and Takeia Smith, 23, of 319 Mesabi St., had been trying to start fights and all were charged with disorderly conduct after refusing to disperse, police said.

The disturbance, involving dozens of people, grew large enough that Sharon police got help from Southwest Mercer County Regional police to help re-establish order.

• Jimmy Joe Axlerod, 31, of Sharon faces assault and other charges after attacking a woman and injuring her infant at about 11 p.m. Dec. 24 at her home in the 400 block of Walnut Avenue, police said.

Axlerod was drunk when the woman returned home from church and they began to argue, police said.

She was holding a 6-month-old boy when Axelrod cut her on her side with a small knife blade in a multi-tool, police said, adding that he later threw it at her and it cut the baby’s forehead.

He shoved the woman’s 10-year-old son, bloodying the boy’s lip as he tried to intervene, police said.

Axlerod fought with police, head-butting one of them and continuing to kick after he had been handcuffed and placed in the cruiser, police said.

Axlerod also fought with police as he was being placed in a cell in the Shenango Valley Regional Lockup in Farrell, police said.

He was charged with simple assault, aggravated assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, recklessly endangering other people and public drunkenness. Axlerod had a parole detainer and was taken to Mercer County Jail.

• Shaquentia Williams, 27, Hermitage, argued and fought with another woman at about 2 p.m. Dec. 26 in the parking lot of Parkside Manor, 200 Sterling Ave., police said.

Williams, arrested by police as she tried to drive away, was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Southwest Mercer County Regional

• Michael Quinten Banks-Hall, 24, of 818 New Castle Ave., Sharon, was arrested at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, when police said he broke into a home in the 500 block of Beechwood Avenue, Farrell.

Banks-Hall had to be stunned by a Taser when he resisted arrest, police said, adding he was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and trespassing.

• Someone stole a 2002 dark red Pontiac Grand Prix between Saturday night and 8:25 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Hamiliton Avenue, Farrell, police said.

• Zachary Morgan Tarpenning, 23, of 494 State Line Road, Masury, was arrested at 6:16 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Farrell Terrace, Farrell, and charged with simple assault for striking someone several times, police said.

• Mary Catherine Danilovics, 34, of 341è Hamilton Ave., Farrell, was charged with harassment at 2:47 a.m. Wednesday for a disturbance at her home, police said.


Grove City

• Jamie A. Guthrie, 43, of Mercer; at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at a convenience store on West Main Street, police said.


• Roger Robinson, 19, of 7981 Second St., Masury; at about 12:10 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of East Silver Street; also charged with underage drinking and driving under license suspension.

Southwest Mercer County Regional

• Derrick Anthony Odem, 43, of 911 Hamilton Ave., Farrell; at 2:41 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of Emerson Avenue; also charged with traffic violations.



• Lawrence Steele Jr., 38, of 341 Andrew St., Sharon; at 11:15 p.m. Saturday on East State Street on a district court warrant for failure to appear.

Southwest Mercer County Regional

• Gail Tashawn Hopson, 20, of 129 Shenango Blvd., Farrell; at 12:43 a.m. Monday on two failure-to-pay warrants from Sharon. Taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post bond.
