Police, Fire from March 1, 2014

• Someone forced open the front door in a burglary discovered at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of Valley View Road, police said.

The thief took a television and Wii game system.

Sharon

• National Fuel Gas repair crews restored service that was interrupted Tuesday on Stambaugh Avenue.

Karen Merkel, spokesperson for the utility, said freezing and thawing caused water to collect in lines serving 24 addresses. Service was restored Wednesday, she said.

Southwest Mercer County Regional

• Lateefah Lashell Smith and Jaron West both face charges after fighting at about 11:45 p.m. Thursday at her home.

Smith, 26, of 521 Stevenson St., Farrell, stabbed West, 25, of 903 Spearman Ave., with a serrated knife, injuring his hands and thigh, police said.

West hit Smith several times and broke items in the apartment, police said. He was treated at UPMC Horizon, Farrell.

Smith was charged with simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. West was charged with simple assault, criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person, police said.
