Police, Fire for June 15, 2013


---- — Brookfield

•Police arrested a 32-year-old woman Thursday afternoon on charges of domestic violence after she allegedly chased a 31-year-old man into the bathroom, waved a bottle of vodka at him, and knocked him into the bathtub and dumped garbage all over him.

Police said Amy S. Riley, 149 Brook Drive, was charged at 4:56 p.m. after she also threw a book at police who were trying to intervene in the fight.

Greenville-West Salem Township

•Someone stole a computer and money from a home on Columbia Avenue in Greenville on Monday, police said.

•Someone broke into an apartment at 15 W. Main St. in Greenville on Tuesday, police said. It was not determined if anything was taken.

•Someone broke into a garage at 10:48 p.m. Tuesday at 23 Carnegie St., Greenville, and cut valve stems on two ATV tires, police said.


•Nobody was hurt when someone fired a shot through an apartment window at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in Malleable Heights in the 300 block of Quinby Street, police said.

At about 8 a.m., the woman who reported the incident said she had heard a noise while she was sleeping and found a bullet hole in a west side window upon waking, police said.

She and two children live in the apartment.

Investigators found fragments of a copper-jacketed slug in an apartment wall. There were no other reports of gunfire in that area at that time, police said.

•Lane E. Sarcinella, 30, of 285 S. Mercer St. Greenville, had four rocks of crack cocaine and two crack pipes on her when she was questioned and patted down early Thursday at George Street and Ravine Place, police said.

Police had been told by one of three men waiting for her at about 1 a.m. in a parked BMW that she was picking up a computer she had dropped off for a friend to repair. When she returned, Sarcinella told police she had picked up a cell phone.

She was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphenalia.

None of the men was charged with any crimes.

•An argument over money at about 6:45 p.m. Monday wound up putting Tyler Edward Morton, 21,  of 163 N. Oakland Ave., Sharon, in jail on an assault charge.

Morton walked to his grandmother’s house at 145 N. Oakland and asked her for money. He demanded more than she gave him and began shouting, police said.

A cousin threatened to call police and Morton wrapped his arm around her neck and threatened to punch her, police said.

Morton was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post bond on a simple assault charge.

•Police have issued a warrant accusing a Farrell man of child rape.

Cory T. Odem, 25, of 917 Hamilton Ave., admitted during questioning that he had had a 4-year sexual relationship with a Sharon girl who was 12 years old when the assaults began in 2009, police said.

Odem is accused of rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault of a person younger than 16, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, and indecent assault of a person younger than 13.

•The woman selling audio headphones that had been reported stolen was surprised when police showed up.

The owner, whose headphones valued at $400 had been stolen, learned they were offered for $75 a pair or $125 for both on a local social network website, police said.

He accepted the offer and arranged to meet the seller, Brittany D. Norcross, 26, of 244 N. Oakland Ave., Sharon, at 12:55 a.m. Thursday at an address on Fabian Way, police said.

While they discussed a deal, he called police who arrested her.

Norcross, who posted bond, was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and driving without a license.


•Gerald Detelich Jr., 43, of 116 Oak Lane, Jamestown, was charged with violating a protection from abuse order at 12:46 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of West Ridge Avenue, police said.

Police said he drove past the victim’s house several times and sent threatening phone calls and texts.

Southwest Mercer County Regional

•Dhaeshen Carthorn, 36, of 731 Wallis Ave., Farrell, was charged at about 11:55 p.m. Thursday with possession of a small amount of marijuana and driving without a license during a traffic stop in the 900 block of Stambaugh Avenue, Farrell, police said.

State police

•An elderly Washington County man missing from Salem Township was found about 12 hours later unharmed after a minor crash in Butler County, police said.

The 79-year-old and his wife from Washington, Pa., were staying at their Mercer County camp at 151 Hyde Hill Road. His wife and a neighbor went to Meadville and returned at about 1 p.m. Tuesday to find the man, who has dementia and had not driven for over a year, gone and the couple’s pickup missing, police said.

He was found around midnight uninjured but confused after a minor crash in Cranberry Township. His wife drove him back to their camp, police said.


Greenville-West Salem Township

•Randi Jo Prugh, 20, of Greenville, at 11:02 a.m. Monday on a drug charge warrant; also charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Prugh was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $5,000 bond, police said.

Southwest Mercer County Regional  

•Russell Bernard Vaughn, 21, of 298 Malleable St., Sharon; on a bench  warrant for failure to appear; taken to Mercer County Jail.



•Melissa A. Larosa, 36, of 361 Ohio St., Sharon; at 2:45 a.m. Friday after she drove her car backwards around the intersection of Davis Street and Standard Avenue, police said. Police said she also had license plates belonging to another car on her vehicle.


•Denise M. Mohney, 55, of 30 S. Third St., Sharpsville; at 1:11 a.m. June 9 on West Ridge Avenue; also charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
