Police, Fire for April 29, 2014


- — Brookfield

•James W. Holton Jr., 19, Emlenton, was arrested on charges of providing a false identification at a bar at 1814 state Route 7, police said. The incident happened at 9:15 p.m. Friday.

•Kalla M.Gardner, 19, of Hubbard was charged with underage drinking at 11:45 p.m. Friday at a bar at 1814 state Route 7, according to police.

•Sheena M. Crump, 29, of 1420 Parke Drive, Hermitage, was charged with speeding and driving under suspension after police said they stopped her for driving 93 mph at state Route 82 and Obermeyer Road at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

•Gregory Frampton, 37, of 8244 Ohio St., Masury, was charged with felonious and simple assault after police said he hit a 21-year-old male in the head with a bottle, causing a large cut and also for slapping a 22-year-old woman in the face. The male victim was treated at a hospital, police said.

Grove City

•Police said they are investigating a report of an assault at 6:30 a.m. Monday in Grove City Memorial Park.

Police said the 41-year-old victim reported being pushed down from behind as she walked in the park. She told police she struggled with the attacker and he ran. She suffered several scrapes, police said.

Police had no description available.


•Police said they were called to a home in the 1500 block of South Keel Ridge Road at 5:39 p.m. Sunday for a burglary that the victim said occurred overnight. Police said various tools were stolen from a shed.

•Charles Earl Gehr, 33, of 254 Conneaut Lake Road, Sugar Grove Township, at 12:52 a.m. Sunday was charged with forgery and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after police stopped him for traffic violations on Dutch Lane at East State Street.

Police found he was driving a car with an altered temporary Ohio license plate to show a false expiration date. A search of his car turned up a half-gram of heroin, a glass crack pipe and syringe, police said.

Southwest Mercer County Regional

•Brian David Mosley, 37, of 194 Third Ave., Sharon, at 4:12 p.m. Friday, filled a basket with items in Dollar General, 843 Sharon-New Castle Road, Farrell, and left without paying, police said.

Mosley was found as he left Dollar General, 871 E. State St., Sharon, a few minutes later, police said.

He was taken to a local hospital after he injured himself when police confronted him, police said.

•Samuel Louis Hosey Sr., 65, of 411 Roemer Blvd., Apartment 102, Farrell, turned himself in to Sharon police after an incident at 9:39 p.m. Friday at his home where the Critical Incident Response Team was called to assist, police said.

Police responded to reports that Hosey hit a female and was thought to have barricaded himself in his apartment with weapons. He was charged with aggravated assault, police said.

•Police are investigating the vandalism of a vehicle at 2:28 a.m. Sunday when a brick was thrown through the rear driver’s side window as it traveled south on Mercer Avenue near Shady Drive in Farrell, police said.

State police

•The Virginia owner of a home along River Road in Delaware Township on April 1 reported a break-in and copper wire stolen, police said.

•Matthew J. Scheidemantle, 36, of Portersville is charged with criminal mischief after police said he scratched the paint on the hood and fender of a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am belonging to a Masury man.

 The incident happened at 10:30 p.m. Saturday while the car was parked in a driveway at 28 Oak Hill Ext., Pine Township.

•Both drivers were injured in a Monday morning crash along Interstate 80 in Findley Township.

Police said a vehicle driven by Nayanabahen L. Patel, 48, of Franklin, drifted off the left side of the road and onto the berm, and when she pulled back onto the highway in her Toyota Sienna it hit a Suzuki Aerio, driven by 20-year-old Kyleigh R. Custer of Sandy Lake.

Patel was cited for failing to stay in her lane; Custer was treated at Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, police said.

•Someone stole an iPod Touch from the YMCA gymnasium in Pine Township between 3 and 6:30 p.m. April 17, police said.

•Someone stole an SUV from the 4000 block of Mercer Street in New Lebanon at 12:35 a.m. Saturday, police said. Shortly after, the SUV and a Cadillac were found near Black Road in French Creek Township, police said.

•Sherri Lynn Nock, 42, of Youngstown, provided a false urine sample during routine probation testing at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the probation and parole office in East Lackawannock Township, and was taken to Mercer County Jail on a probation violation, police said.

•Stephen Paul Glenn Sr., 45, of Grove City was charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment after an argument with a Grove City woman on Enterprise Road, Pine Township, at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Glenn followed the woman out of a home with a .22-caliber rifle and shot one round into the air, police said. He was taken to Mercer County Jail on those charges and outstanding warrants, police said.

•Someone stole a debit card between Feb. 19 and April 21 from a Grove City woman and withdrew an undetermined amount of money from her account at various ATM machines throughout Mercer County, police said.

•Someone took four 20-inch wheels from a 2014 pickup overnight April 5 and 6 while it was parked at Ben Bissett Chevrolet, 595 Perry Highway, East Lackawannock Township, police said. Police recovered the wheels on April 7.
