Police, Fire for March 13, 2013

---- — Greenville-West Salem Township

•Alysa J. Murphy, 31, of 584 12th St., Pymatuning Township, was arrested at 6:11 p.m. Feb. 15 at South Mercer and Jefferson streets, Greenville, on charges of driving under the influence of Methadone and Oxycodone and lane violations, police said.

•Ashley R. Bentley, 19, of 53 S. Mercer St., Greenville, was arrested Friday at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System by Mercer County sheriff’s deputies on a charge of aggravated assault for knocking a nurse to the ground and kicking and punching medical staff members at 4:54 p.m. March 3 at UPMC Horizon, Greenville, police said.

Hempfield Township

•Ashley N. Shirey, 20, of Greenville, has been charged with theft for stealing $133 Feb. 16 from a cash drawer at McDonald’s, 63 Hadley Road, where she worked, police said.

Hermitage

•Michael A. Snyder, 37, of 260 Orange Drive, Hermitage, has been charged with delivery and possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia for selling 5.6 grams of pot for $50 to an informant at 11:29 a.m. July 26 in the 200 block of Orange Drive, police said.

Sharon

•Gene A. Verroco, 40, of 1915 Rettig Drive, Hermitage, was charged Monday with accidents involving damage to unattended vehicles and careless driving after an investigation implicated him as the driver involved in a Saturday hit-and-run crash that involved two parked vehicles on Stambaugh Avenue, police said.

•Eric Lomax, 52, of Quinby Street, Sharon, was driving a motorcycle at 3:50 p.m. Saturday on East Budd Street at Sterling Avenue when he was hit by a car driven by Billy Gunn, 73, of Hamilton Avenue, Farrell, that was stopped on Sterling Avenue at East Budd Street and pulled into Lomax’s path, police said.

Lomax was thrown from the bike on impact and the motorcycle went through the doors of Calvert Lumber after the crash, police said. He was treated in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System, police said.

•Zachariah Hardman, 20, of Hermitage, has given police two stories so far to explain how he ended up in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System at 4 p.m. Sunday with a gunshot wound to his hand.

Police said the flesh wound wasn’t serious and that Hardman told authorities he was the victim of a drive-by shooting at Budd and Mesabi streets, then said he was shot at Wengler Avenue and State Street while trying to buy a “blunt” marijuana cigar from a man driving a green Dodge Neon.

Neither story could be verified and no one’s been charged in the shooting, police said.

Sharpsville

•Robert Anthony Merush Jr., 36, of 315 A Street, Apartment A, Sharon, was accused of violating a protection from abuse order at 5:48 p.m. Friday  on Ridge Avenue, police said.

Merush had gone to the residence to pick up his children and became aggressive toward them and their mother, police said, adding he also sent her offensive text messages.

State police

•Joseph D. Burdick, 22, of 44 Sherrard Ave., Greenville, has been charged with possession of heroin with intent to deliver, possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia and criminal use of a cellular telephone for selling heroin to an undercover policeman Oct. 15 and Nov. 9 in Hempfield Township and Nov. 29 in Greenville, police said. He sold total of 2.26 grams for $850, police said.

DRUNKEN DRIVING ARRESTS

Greenville-West Salem Township

•Siobhan L. Jowett, 26, of 120 W. Main St., Greenville; at 8:54 p.m. Thursday at College Avenue and Shenango Street, Greenville, where her minivan crashed into a pole holding traffic lights; also charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving without a license, accident involving damage to property, driving without inspection and expired emission sticker.

•Aleesha M. Hovis, 24, of 403 Wallis Ave., Farrell; at 2:14 a.m. Saturday at Greenville-Sharon Road and Crestview Drive in West Salem Township; also charged with a lane violation.

Hermitage

•Michael B. Brant, 20, of 2638 N. Neshannock Road, Clark; at 7:19 a.m. March 1 in the 700 block of Clay Furnace Road, Clark, where his truck got stuck in a yard; also charged with underage drinking.

Sharon

•Penny Ann Bowers, 41, of 406 Delaware St., Sharon; at 2:01 a.m. Monday at East State Street and Smith Avenue.

•Demetrius A. Odem, 22, of West Mifflin, Pa.; at 11:36 p.m. Thursday at 93 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon.

WARRANT ARRESTS

Sharon

•Lature R. Irvin, 40, of Detroit; at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at District Judge Dennis Songer’s Sharon office on a fugitive warrant from Ohio for gross sexual imposition.

•Jason R. Stearns, 161 Fifth Ave., Sharon; at 1:11 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of South Irvine Avenue on a district attorney’s warrant for theft by deception.

•Pierre J. Hughley, 25, of Youngstown; at 12:35 a.m. Sunday at the Southwest Mercer County Regional Lockup in Farrell on criminal trespass charges filed by Sharon.

•Tamorr K. Clay, 29, of 850 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon; at 2 p.m. Monday on criminal mischief charges filed by Sharon.

•Tera Kougher, 43, of 834 Spearman Ave.; at 7:36 p.m. Thursday at home on simple assault charges filed by Sharon.

•Thomas Ripley Jr., 49, of 369 Baldwin Ave., Sharon; at 2 p.m. Monday at 155 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, on simple assault charges filed in Allegheny County.
