Police, Fire from Aug. 20, 2013

---- — Greenville-West Salem Township

• John Ferrole, 21, of 9 Elm St., Greenville, was served a protection from abuse order at 4:48 p.m. Friday, and escorted from the property, to have no contact with the homeowner, police said.

• Samuel A. Masters, 24, of 33 N. Race St., Greenville, was arrested at 4:34 p.m. Sunday for simple assault for hitting someone in the face, police said.


• Aaron J. Thomas, 25, of 941 Sharon-New Castle Road, Farrell, was charged with making terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment and criminal trespass for punching Jennifer Swogger in the head and face and threatening to break her jaw if she called police at 9:01 p.m. June 16 in the 1400 block of Bolde Drive, police said.

He is banned from Shenango Park Apartments, where the alleged beating occurred, police said. Swogger was taken to a local hospital, police said.

Jefferson Township

• All four members of the McFarland family escaped injury at about 8:40 a.m. Monday when fire destroyed their home at Lot 33, Forrest Brooke mobile home park.

An electrical problem may have caused the fire, which quickly engulfed the home and appears to have been an accident, said Jeff Lockard, fire chief and police chief for Jefferson Township.

Red Cross assisted the McFarlands – two adults and two children – with food and clothing aid. They are staying with family, said Leslie Kaluzne, the agency’s spokesperson.

Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by firefighters from East End and Springfield Township volunteer fire departments.

Southwest Mercer County Regional

• An air conditioner was stolen from a window in the 200 block of Shenango Boulevard, Farrell, said police, who received the report at 4:32 p.m. Friday.

• A snow shovel was used to damage a vehicle windshield in the 600 block of Beechwood Avenue, Farrell, said police, who were notified at 11:17 p.m. Friday.

• Two shotguns, two televisions and a video game system were stolen from a home in the sub-100 block of Metz Road, Shenango Township, said police, who were called at 5:33 p.m. Sunday. A window screen was removed, police said.
