- — Hempfield Township

• Michael S. Johnson, 23, address unknown, was charged with harassment and simple assault at 10:35 p.m. Oct. 29 on Mercer Road after he got into a verbal argument with a woman, police said.

Johnson allegedly grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground. As she tried several times to get up he threw her back down, police said. The victim suffered torn ligaments and a broken bone, police said.

State police

•Someone stole seven rifles from a gun cabinet in a home in the 100 block of Tie Line Road, Pine Township, sometime between Oct. 17 and 7 p.m. Sunday, police said. The missing weapons are a Ruger 77mm Mag, a Remington 30.06, a Remington 270, a Jukar Flintlock 45-caliber, a Marlin 22-caliber, a Savage 30-30 and a Savage 22-caliber, police said.

• Kevin L. McFadden, 45, of Mercer County jail, was charged with receiving stolen property when a pop up camper worth $2,000 was found left by him as one of the vehicles he used to avoid prosecution, police said.

• Anthony A. Branch-Abereen, 22, of Covington, Ga., was driving east on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township when his car drifted into the left lane and struck the back side of a truck’s trailer. Branch-Abereen’s car then traveled back across both lanes and off the south side of the highway, went into a ditch, rolled over and landed on its roof.

The driver was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries. He was cited with careless driving after having apparently fallen asleep at the wheel, police said.
