- — Grove City

• Police are investing the theft of a gas-powered weed eater. It was stolen from a shed on the 300 block of Elm Street on Monday or Tuesday, police said. It was valued at $100.

• A business’s window on South Broad Street was damaged when someone threw something at it. It happened between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and resulted in a chip and long crack in the window, police said.


• Someone stole cash during a May 28 burglary in the 1000 block of Baldwin Avenue, police said. The resident told police someone broke in through a side door and stole $230 that was on the kitchen table.

• A copper thief stole plumbing from a vacant rental house in a burglary discovered Friday in the 300 block of New Castle Avenue. A basement window had been forced open, police said.

• Someone stole garden fencing during the past two weeks in a theft reported at noon Saturday in the 600 block of Spruce Avenue. The homeowner said a dozen metal stakes and 45 feet of wire mesh 60 inches high valued at about $50 had been stolen.

• A tenant faces drug charges after marijuana plants were found in his Pine Hollow Village apartment at 321 E. Connelly Blvd., during an inspection by Mercer County Housing Authority employees, police said.

Christopher Curry, 37, had about a dozen suspected marijuana plants when police were called at about 8:30 a.m. Monday. Investigators found the plants growing in pots in a bedroom. They also seized potting soil and a water pipe, or bong, used for smoking marijuana, police said.

Police took samples of the suspected marijuana and destroyed the plants. Curry was charged with possession with intent to manufacture marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• A mother and son from Ohio face drug charges after their arrest at about 6 p.m. Monday following a report of suspicious activity in the 200 block of Mesabi Street.

Joel Foster, 24, and Tammy Foster, 46, both of 3325 Custer-Orangeville Road, Burghill, had a small quantity of suspected heroin in their car along with an uncapped syringe, straight shooter crack pipes and a marijuana roach, police said.

Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

• Two men are charged with beating a third man who was returning a child to the child’s mother at her home Monday in the 100 block of North Irvine Avenue, police said.

Joshua Eric Beilstein, 29, of 2490 S. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, assaulted the victim, police said, punching him several times in the face. While the victim, a 20-year-old Sharpsville man, fought back, Steven Paul Trepasso, 24, of 536 Madison St., Sharon, joined in, punching him several times in the face and head, police said.

The victim, whose eye was swollen and who had trouble speaking because he had been punched in the throat, declined treatment, police said. Beilstein and Trepasso were both charged with simple assault and harassment.

• A resident of the 200 block of Malleable Street told police Tuesday afternoon his house was the target of a burglar while he was gone for a couple of days. The man said someone stole a 32-inch Sony television and his wallet which contained about $500 and some credit cards.

• A city couple face charges after a May 29 argument that turned into “mutual combat,” police said.

Responding to a report of a domestic incident at 534 Oakland Ave., police said they found that China L. Sheets had pushed Daniel Moerch down the steps after an argument over their children. Moerch’s face was bleeding and bruised from Sheets’ punches but he declined medical treatment, police said.

Sheets, 35, and Moerch, 31, were both charged with simple assault.

• A city man faces charges after striking a woman on the head with a brick, police said.

Robert Brockman, 64, who last had a Spruce Avenue address, had been arguing with the 55-year-old victim in the sub-100 block of South Oakland Avenue. He was charged with simple assault, public drunkenness and recklessly endangering another person, police said.

• Elrico O. Jones Sr., 40, of  1007 Cedar Ave., faces charges after attacking a woman during an argument, police said.

The 31-year-old victim was being treated for a possible broken arm when police were called to the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System. She told police Jones had punched her several times and spit in her face.

Jones was charged with  simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.



• Brian Clark, 54, of 8231 Warren-Sharon Road, Masury; found passed out in his pickup at 1:30 a.m. Friday on Silver Street.
