New Life Covenant plans event for young women
SHARON — Young women ages 12 through 18 can attend “Un-Wrap Educational Beauty: Natural & Spiritual” at 6:30 p.m. today and 10 a.m. Saturday in New Life Covenant Church, 807 Spruce Ave.
Lakia Gordon, daugher of Prophetess Jennifer Perry-Campbell, will speak. The 2002 Farrell High School alumna was a member of the volleyball team.
She lives in Newport News, Va., and attends Cornerstone Assembly of God, where she is a mentor and teacher in the Girls of Faith Ministry.
Central Christian sets monthly men’s breakfast
HERMITAGE — A monthly men’s breakfast is set for 9 a.m. Saturday in Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 218 Meadowbrook Road.

Clergy Women to meet in Ruth A.M.E. Zion
SHARON — Interdenominational Clergy Women Alliance of the Shenango Valley will hold its monthly meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday in Ruth African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, 95 Connelly Blvd.
Evangelist Deborah Lewis-Sanders will speak on praise and worship. All women in ministry are welcome, and those interested in being a charter member should submit an application at the meeting.

Greater Mount Zion alters schedule this week
FARRELL — Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ, 1825 Roemer Blvd., has changed its service times for this Sunday only.
Sunday school will be at 9 a.m. and morning worship, 10 a.m. There will be no Morning Manna.
West Side Baptist slates Bible prophecy event
SHARPSVILLE — A Bible prophecy conference is set for 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday in West Side Baptist Church, 17 E. Main St.
Dr. Ralph “Yankee” Arnold, founder and former president of Arvada Christian School and Colorado Bible College, will speak. The television and radio Bible teacher is involved in national and international evangelism.
Five- through 12-year-olds will have their own Bible prophecy class during all the services.
Second Baptist marking pastor’s 22nd year
SHARPSVILLE — Second Baptist Church will celebrate the 22nd pastoral anniversary of the Rev. and Mrs. James McKeithan at 11:15 a.m. Sunday in the church at 10 Walnut St.

Community Baptist ushers celebrate 61st
FARRELL — Community Missionary Baptist Church’s Senior Usher Board will celebrate its 61st anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday in the church at 1013 Emerson Ave.

Altar Rosary to attend Mass at Fatima Church
FARRELL — Altar Rosary Society members will meet at 8:30 a.m. May 4 to recite the Rosary before 9 a.m. Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 601 Roemer Blvd.
May Crowning will take place at the Mass, with Jennie Willis as May queen.
A breakfast for member and guests will follow in the Marian Room.

School choir coming to Emmanuel Christian
NEW VERNON TOWNSHIP — Mountain Mission School Concert Choir of Grundy, Va., will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday in Emmanuel Christian Church, 4495 Greenville-Sandy Lake Road (Route 358).
The group of students from all over the world has performed throughout the United States, Canada, England, Australia and France.
The group also performed for the World Christian Convention in Brighton, England; and has performed at Disneyland and Opreyland; and in Washington, D.C. It has presented the National Anthem at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Breath of Life ‘Holiness’ sets 2-day conference
MERCER — Breath of Life “Holiness” Tabernacle in Farrell will host a two-day leadership conference May 2 and 3 in Comfort Inn, formerly Howard Johnson, U.S. Route 19 and Interstate 80.
“A Holy Rest” will be the event’s theme. Registration will be at noon May 2. Evangelist Brenda Jones will speak at a 7 p.m. service that day.
Minister Donald Campbell of Sharon will lead “Early I Will Seek Thee” morning dew prayer service at 6 a.m. May 3. Complimentary breakfast is planned for 7 to 8:30 a.m., and Prophet Pastor Leonard Cleckley will speak at noon at an End Time prophetic luncheon.

New Beginnings Christian hosting noted singer
GREENVILLE — A professional gospel singer will minister at 7 p.m. May 3 and 10 a.m. May 4 in New Beginnings Christian Church, 73 Hamburg Road.
The events are in celebration of the church’s sixth anniversary. An offering will be received.
Mikki Kornegay has toured the United States, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Japan singing background for artists including Patti Labelle. She also has performed as a backing vocal on stage and on recordings with Stevie Wonder, Nancy Wilson, Teddy Pendergast, Celine Dion and Michael Bolton.
When Football Hall of Famer and Minister of Defense Reggie White made his movie “Reggie’s Prayer,” he enlisted Ms. Kornegay to sing on the soundtrack. She also accompanied White to street crusades.
She has appeared on “The Today Show,” “Arsenio Hall,” “Motown Live,” “The Home Show” and “Good Morning South Africa.” She also has done commercials.
Ms. Kornegay uses music therapy in behavior modification techniques for those with special needs including children with autism and the elderly with Alzheimer’s disease.

Villa Maria center hosting pair of programs
VILLA MARIA — Villa Maria Retreat Center, one mile south of U.S. 422 on Evergreen Road in Lawrence County, will host these programs:
“Spirit of the Season: Spring” — 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17. Sister Carlyn Gorny-Kopkowski, spirituality programs director for the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, will facilitate. Cost is $40 and includes lunch.
“The Life of the Spirit” annual Bernardin lunch and lecture — Noon to 3 p.m. May 23. The Rev. Howard Gray, special assistant to the president of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., will speak. Cost is $40 and includes registration and lunch, or $35 for students.

Donald G. Reed speaking at Christian Assembly
GREENVILLE — Donald G. Reed Sr. of Hermitage will speak on “The Brink of Gambling” at 6 p.m. Sunday in Christian Assembly, 111 Main St.
The founder of Crossing Paths Television, Hermitage, will discuss his deliverance from alcoholism and gambling and a preview of his new book that will be published in 2008. The book will also detail ways men and women can be delivered from alcohol and gambling.
Reed also will share the testimony of his late wife, Donna Lou Reed, who died of Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Dave Poling and Etta Irwin, who have appeared on Crossing Paths TV, will provide the music.
Keelings to perform in 2 county churches
MERCER COUNTY — The Keelings will give a gospel concert at 7 p.m. Sunday in Hickory United Methodist Church, 240 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage.
Shenango Valley East United Methodist Witness group of five United Methodist churches is sponsoring the event. An offering will be received.
At 7 p.m. May 4, the Keelings will be singing in Hadley Presbyterian Church, Church Street. An offering will be received and there will be refreshments.
The family has performed for 15 years throughout the eastern United States.
Love Christian sets special youth meeting
FARRELL — A special youth meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sunday in Love Christian Center, 411 Hamilton Ave.
Ken “The Cobra” Sigurani, former World Boxing Federation and International Boxing Council welterweight champion, will speak.
Doors open at 6 p.m. to sign in young people through age 19 for drawings to be held at the end of the meeting for 35 door prizes. Young people can use their own cameras to take pictures with Sigurani between 6 and 7 p.m.
