Church Women United sets Human Rights event
FARRELL — Church Women United of the Shenango Valley will hold its annual Human Rights Day service from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 5 in Zion Daily Bread Restaurant, 841 Sharon-New Castle Road.
Minister Michelle Askerneese of Cedar Avenue Church of God in Sharon will talk about her mission trip to New Orleans to serve Katrina victims. Ellen Pope will show slides from her trip to aid Katrina victims.
Hymn Book Choir of Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ in Farrell will sing. An offering will be received.
Mazzants in concert in Sandy Lake Alliance
SANDY LAKE — Amos and Cookie Mazzant of Ellwood City will give a concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 6 in Sandy Lake Alliance Church, 5319 Franklin St.
The Mazzants have been in Christian music ministry since 1978. They use a variety of instruments in performing traditional music, hymns and southern gospel.
They also will be at the church for its annual “Family & Friends Day” starting at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 7, with a concert at 10:30 a.m. A potluck lunch will be served at noon.
