FARRELL

First Baptist Church, 1120 Darr Ave., will celebrate its 108th anniversary Sunday.

The celebration began with a three-day revival with the Rev. Michael Harrison of Union Baptist Church in Youngstown. The celebration continues Saturday with fellowship for former members, friends and family.

A “reunion” choir will be featured Sunday and will host Rev. Letitia Scott-Banks of Pentecostal House of Prayer in Farrell, one of 20 ministers who started their devotion to the Word of God in the host church. These ministers and their spouses will be honored at the afternoon banquet following morning service. The church’s oldest members, between 98 and 100 years of age, also will be recognized.

Riley Smoot, chief of Southwest Mercer County Regional Police Department and a member of the church, will be master of ceremonies during a banquet at 2 p.m. Sunday in Tiffany’s, 601 Bedford Road S.E., off Route 62.

Rev. Jimmie Seller, associate minister, will be recognized and honored for his dedication and devotion to ministering, along with Minister Nolan Howell.

The church’s ministers have been Minister Howell; Revs. Brian Short, Brian Johnson, Scott-Banks, Clifforette Dunlap and Leon Avery Jr.; Minister Sharon Ford; Rev. Graham P. Matthews Jr.; Minister Cassandra Pacheco; Revs. Laura Adams King, and Andrew Adams; Ministers Ishandu Pegler and Jeffrey Ford; and Revs. Joseph Davis and Raymond Allen.
