Mexican mission: Pastor continues ‘Operation Capital City’

HERMITAGE

For more than two decades, Carol Missik has felt a spiritual tug that keeps pulling her back to Mexico.

The pastor of Living Word Church in Hermitage said she can’t explain the reason, but that she believes “God laid that burden on my heart, for the people of Mexico.”

The latest result of this holy call to action is “Operation Capital City,” a mission sponsored by her church.

There is a map of the country in the hall of the church that’s half covered with pushpins of the cities that prayer teams have visited in the last 18 months.

“It’s a life-changing experience for anyone who goes on a trip,” Pastor Missik said.

Teams of four to six people visit two or three Mexican state capitals and pray at five “pressure points” in the cities that include government centers, schools, markets, media centers and churches, Pastor Missik said.

They’re halfway through the 32 capitals and hope to finish the mission in 2010 with a prayer conference in the geographic center of Mexico.

The mission will be detailed during a “Catch the Vision” banquet later this month where Pastor Missik will present her “vision for the nations.”

“This is not just a church thing or a denomination thing,” she said. “That’s not what I’m about. It’s a Kingdom vision rather than a congregation vision.”

OCC is an “extension” of Living Word that’s also sponsored by other international ministry organizations.

It’s also something that members of the small congregation supports with their time and money.

“More than half of the people in this church have gone on a mission with me,” Pastor Missik said.

The banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at Tiffany’s Banquet Center in Brookfield. RSVPs are due by Monday, Oct. 20. Call: 724-342-7811.
