HERMITAGE – M&M Kids, a Saturday kids/fun time, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in New Virginia United Methodist Church, 1100 S. Keel Ridge Road.
Children in preschool to sixth grade are welcome.

Church hosts guests for installation services
FARRELL -- Community Missionary Baptist Church, 1013 Emerson Ave., in conjunction with the installation of the Rev. Troy D. Hunter as pastor, will host guest speaker the Rev. Dr. Kelvin E. Turner, pastor of Zion Baptist Church, Portsmouth, Va., at a special service at 11 a.m. Sunday in the church.
The installation service is at 4 p.m. in Robert E. Chavers Community Center, 211 Federal St., with Bishop Kenneth Paramore of Christ-Centered Church, Youngstown, and other guests participating.
New Light sets ‘The Light’ adult fellowship
SHARON – New Light Missionary Baptist Church will hold its winter celebration of “The Light,” an adult fellowship with praise dance, singing, poetry, Christian jazz and refreshments, at 8 p.m. Jan. 18 in the church’s Christian education center on the corner of Morrison Street and Cedar Avenue. Featured will be “A Tribute to the King,” honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Life’s hardships can lead us right into path of God’s providence
Early on in ministry, there came an experience I would be glad to have never again in this life. Having been called by a young husband to come, I drove into the driveway of a modest home in a quiet neighborhood. The caller’s wife answered my knock at the door – her face ashen, a look of horror in her eyes. She rushed into my arms, blurting out the words, “Oh Pastor, my baby is dead!”

Winter weariness can get us down but God brings relief
Have you noticed the exhausted, out-of-gas energy levels residents are displaying these days? There are less than 30 days left of this long, very cold winter. Residents are winter weary from the relentless snow storms and cold spells that seem to be coming back to back. We’re all suffering from cabin fever and the effects of restricted sunlight. Counselors refer to the human impact of this season as SAD – Seasonal Affective Disorder.
