- — Annual Christian Unity Service slated Jan. 26

HERMITAGE – Christian Associates of the Shenango Valley’s annual Christian Unity Service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Jan. 26 in Central Christian Church, 218 Meadowbrook Road. The Rev. David Dawson, executive presbyter of the Presbytery of Shenango, will be guest speaker for the public service.

Theme is “Has Christ Been Divided?”

An ecumenical choir will minister. All singers are encouraged to participate. There will be no auditions or robes or vestments worn. There will be rehearsals at 10 a.m. Jan. 25 and at 2 p.m. the day of the service, both in Central Christian. Unity Presbyterian Church music director and organist Jane Bartholomew will direct the choir.

Refreshments and fellowship will follow the service.

New Light’s ‘The Light’ fellowship Saturday

SHARON – New Light Missionary Baptist Church will hold its winter celebration of “The Light,” an adult fellowship with praise dance, singing, poetry, Christian jazz and refreshments, at 8 p.m. Saturday in the church’s Christian education center on the corner of Morrison Street and Cedar Avenue. Featured will be “A Tribute to the King,” honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Participants will be Jeffery Baymon as DJ, Daniele Wilder, mistress of ceremonies and Anthony Phillips as chef.

Valley Baptist to mark pastor’s 1st anniversary

FARRELL – Valley Baptist Church, 500 Sharon-New Castle Road, will mark the first pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Terrence James and Lady Tamara Harrison on Sunday.

Rev. Lora Adams King, pastor of Erie Street Church of God in Franklin, will preach at the 11 a.m. worship service. Theme is “Looking for an Increase.”

Rev. Michael Harrison and the choir and congregation of Union Baptist Church, Youngstown, will minister at a 4 p.m. celebration.  

A receptions will be held immediately following the worship service in Valley Baptist’s Fellowship Hall.

Rev. Harrison is a son of Farrell Mayor Olive McKeithan and president of Farrell Area School Board.

Ministerial group slates MLK service Sunday

FARRELL – Shenango Valley Ministerial Association’s annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Second Baptist Church, 1138 Spearman Ave.

The Rev. Raymond O. Brown, pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Masury, will speak.

Love Christian Center sets MLK youth meeting

FARRELL – Love Christian Center, 411 Hamilton Ave., will celebrate their annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day youth meeting at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Speaker will be Minister Johnny Henry of Meadville who is also a singer-drummer and former high school section and district wrestling champion.

Jessica L. Talbert-Kirsh, a former track standout who is a member of New Covenant Christian Church of God in Christ, will minister in lyrical muse-rap.

Door prizes will be available for youth through 19. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with ice cream sandwiches served.

New Virginia U.M. schedules prayer vigil

HERMITAGE – New Virginia United Methodist Church, 1100 S. Keel Ridge Road, will hold a prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m. Wednes-day. The public is invited.

‘Healing for Your Soul’ workshop set for Feb. 1

FARRELL – The Rev. Tiffany Holden presents “Loving You II, A Healing for Your Soul” at 2 p.m. Feb. 1 in Greater Morris Chapel A.M.E. Church, 926 Darr Ave. Donation is $10.

Those attending the workshop are asked to bring a small ace bandage and to wear red shoes (or socks or slippers, as long as they are red).

Shiloh Intrusion Ministries hosts end times program

GROVE CITY – “Why is This Happening? Floods, earthquakes, disasters,” a program about end times and the church ages from the book of Revelation, is scheduled from 9:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at Shiloh Intrusion Ministries, 124è S. Center St.

A light lunch will be provided.
