New pastor at U.M. church

BROOKFIELD — Brookfield United Methodist Church will welcome Pastor Richard F. Smith of Liberty Township as their minister starting Tuesday.

Pastor Smith is coming from Calcutta Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, East Liverpool, Ohio, where he has served since 2010, and Elkton (Ohio) United Methodist Church, where he also served the past year after retiring from employment in business development. He is a licensed local pastor and is attending a course of study at Methodist Theological Seminary of Ohio.

Pastor Smith was a longtime member of Girard First United Methodist Church, serving as lay leader and certified lay leader before being called into the ministry.

He and his wife Anne have three adult daughters and seven grandchildren.

He brings a wide variety of ministry gifts. The church invites members and the public to their summer worship service at 10 a.m. at the corner of Route 7 and Grove City on the Brookfield Village Green.
