Day of Prayer services slated

HERMITAGE, GREENVILLE — The National Day of Prayer on Thursday will be observed in community services in Hermitage and Greenville.

Theme this year is “Investing in Hope ... Transforming Our Nation Through Prayer” based on Matthew 12:21.

The Hermitage service is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. in Hickory United Methodist Church, 240 N. Hermitage Road (next to the Shenango Valley Mall). Area pastors will offer prayers for our nation, state, county and community.

In Greenville, the Kiwanis Club of Greenville will host a service in Central Park. Music begins at 11:30 a.m. with prayers beginning at noon. The event will continue at around 12:30 p.m. with worship and lunch at Fresh Grounds on Main Street in downtown Greenville.

Prayers in the park will be offered by Kiwanis President Mario Marini, Josh Lentz, Ben Beck, Charles McErlane, Pastor Jerry Hunter and Tom Parker. Prayer topics will be nation, community, education, churches, families, international and local leaders.

Praise and worship will be led at Fresh Grounds by Hand of Asaph, a local praise band. Lunch will be served around 12:45 p.m. A donation toward the lunch will be appreciated.
