Why would God allow disaster? We asked him to leave us alone

From the Pulpit

By Rev. Cherrie Andres

---- — What have we done as a nation that has produced six mass killings in the past five years? It’s time to admit America has a moral and spiritual sickness that will not cure itself. Our “Hope for Tomorrow” begins with rational decisions today that guarantee a new direction for our nation. We have expelled God from our schools, dismissed Him from our lives and many churches are nothing more than secular pep rallies with psychobabble substituting for the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is clear the blessing of God has been lifted from America.

How do we get it back?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools. We have ignored American history and western civilization history. We no longer teach our students about the founding principles of America. Students graduate from high school who cannot read, write or think critically. But they do know about Harry Potter, how to get in touch with their inner feelings (whatever that is) and how to reach out to Mother Earth.

Wake up America. Your future and the future of your children and grandchildren hang in the balance. We have decisions being made that are reshaping the destiny of America. We have judicial tyranny. We have unrighteous decrees like abortion. We are voting over the basic fundamentals of moral law that are the foundations of society, as with gay marriage. God calls this an abomination regardless of what any denomination or clergy says. To see sin and not call it sin is sin.

Our economy is in a free fall. Washington’s solution is to tax those who are working and give it to deadbeats who won’t work. We are at war with radical Islam and cannot even say so lest we be labeled hatemongers. Iran repeatedly threatens to wipe Israel off the map and they hate us too.

Why would God allow disaster to come to America? Billy Graham’s daughter, Ann, said, “For years we have been telling God to get out of our schools. To get out of our government. To get out of our lives. How can we expect God to give us his blessing and protection if we demand that he leave us alone?”

America must answer for its rejection of God. The blame is not God’s. The blame is America’s, with all the other gods we have. Pornography, occults, humanism, socialism, materialism, obsession with entertainers and sports stars, drugs, alcohol, greed, power, to name a few.

In Deuteronomy 28, Moses was witness to the 10 plagues in Egypt and wrote in verse 16, “Cursed shall you be in the cities.” Let’s look at America’s cities. Gangs who rape, rob and kill. Drug lords, pedophiles. Is America under judgment? You tell me.

In verse 17 he writes of a nation under judgment, “cursed shall be your basket and your store.” We are racing toward bankruptcy that will place our children and grandchildren in economic poverty. America is very near economic collapse. Is America under judgment? You tell me.

Floods, hurricanes, tornados, drought. Is America under judgment? You tell me.

If ever there was a time to pray for America, it is now. If ever there was a time to ask Jesus Christ into your heart, it is now. He is your and America’s only “Hope for Tomorrow.”
