- — Community Good Friday service at St. Paul’s

SHENANGO VALLEY – A community Good Friday service, featuring music, prayer and seven pastors sharing “The Greatest Story Ever Told,” is set from noon to 2 p.m. today in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 159 Todd Ave., Hermitage.

Preachers presenting the service are the Rev. Terry Shaffer, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Sharon; Rev. James McKeithan, pastor of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Sharpsville; Pastor Robbie Arnold of First Presbyterian Church in Sharpsville; Rev. Michelle Askernese, pastor of Valley Church of God in Hermitage; Rev. Michael Lozano, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Sharon; Rev. Geraldine Williamson, pastor of Ruth African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Sharon; and Rev. Craig Thompson, pastor of East Side Church in Sharon.

The two-hour service is sponsored by the Sharon Hermitage Clergy Association and the Shenango Valley Ministerial Association.

Community Cross Walk to stop at 4 churches

MERCER – The community Cross Walk starts at 6 p.m. today in Bethany Presbyterian Church, 100 West Venango St. Participants will also stop at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Market St.; Mercer United Methodist Church, 250 East Butler St.; and The Chapel at Mercer, 300 South Pitt St.

Good Friday service set for House of Prayer

FARRELL – A Good Friday service is scheduled for 6 p.m. today in Greater Pentecostal House of Prayer, 725 Fruit Ave.

“The Seven Last Words of Christ” is the theme, with the following scheduled speakers: the Rev. James Dixon of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Masury; Pastor Patricia Tatum of New Life Covenant Church, Sharon; Assistant Pastor Clifferette Dunlap of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Sharon; Prophetess Diane Dungee of Miracle Valley Church, Hermitage; Evangelist Crystal Graham Jones of New Hope Baptist Church, Farrell; Rev. Henrietta King of House of Power Full Gospel Tabernacle, Farrell; and Pastor Sylvia Jennings of Oak Baptist Church, Youngstown.

Good Friday service at New Virginia U.M.

HERMITAGE – New Virginia United Methodist Church, 1100 S. Keel Ridge Road, will hold a Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. today.

Rev. Adams-King, church at Cedar Avenue service

SHARON – Cedar Avenue Church of God, 1045 Cedar Ave., will welcome the Rev. Lora Adams-King and the Erie Street Church of God family of Franklin as guests for a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. today.

Notre Dame to present Living Station of Cross

HERMITAGE – Living Stations of the Cross will be portrayed by confirmation candidates at 8:30 p.m. today in Church hof Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Road.

Jesus will be portrayed by Gerald Koledin, Greg Hansley will sing.

Passover Celebration at Shiloh Ministries

GROVE CITY – Passover Celebration has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday in Shiloh Intrusion Ministries, 124 S. Center St.

Ex-Steeler to speak at Sandy Lake Wesleyan

SANDY LAKE – Former Pittsburgh Steeler Antwaan Randle El will speak at services this weekend in Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church, 3096 Sandy Lake-Grove City Road.

The church will host a families event called Fusion from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Activities will include giant inflatables, carnival-style gaems, a balloon artist, face painting and a meet-and-greet with Randle El. He will speak at a 6:30 p.m. gathering.

He also will speak at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services Easter Sunday.

Percussionists to present ‘True Story of Easter’

NEW WILMINGTON – Percussionists T.J. McMillin, Abby Downing, Ryan Robb and Chelsea Panin will present “The True Story of Easter” this weekend at 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 and 11 a.m. in New Life Baptist Church, 3414 state Route 208.

Rev. Fryson to speak at 2nd Baptist service

SHARPSVILLE – The Rev. Gregory Fryson will speak at the 6 a.m. sunrise service Easter Sunday in Second Baptist Church, Tenth and Walnut streets. A full breakfast will be served immediately following the service.

WM sunrise service in Charleston U.M.

WEST MIDDLESEX – The West Middlesex Area Easter Sunrise Service is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. Sunday in Charleston United Methodist Church, Greenfield Road near the corner with Route 62. The Rev. Augie Hurst, pastor of Lebanon Presbyterian Church, will be the speaker.

Ministerium schedules Son Rise service at lake

SHARPSVILLE, CLARK – The Sharpsville/Clark Ministerium will host an ecumenical Son Rise worship service at 6:30 a.m. Easter Sunday at the Shenango Lake picnic area.

The Rev. Joe Yurko of First United Methodist Church in Sharpsville will preach, with music led by Rev. Carl Nichols, principal of Shenango Valley Faith Academy.

Following the service, a breakfast will be served at First United Methodist Church, 148 E. Shenango St., Sharpsville.

In case of rain, the Son Rise service will be held in the church.

St. Paul’s UCC hosts guests at Easter services

HERMITAGE – St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 159 Todd Ave. will present two worship services Easter Sunday. The 9 a.m. service will include Holy Communion and a solo by Linda Willey of Sharon. The 11 a.m. traditional service will feature flautist Tara Grgurich Thompson of Meadville.

Stoneboro Presbyterian to hold ‘breadfast’

STONEBORO – Stoneboro Presbyterian Church, 7 Linden St., will host its “Community Easter Pot-Luck Breadfast at 9:30 a.m. Easter Sunday, preceding the worship service.

Also, New Grace singers from the Grove City College will conduct worship serves at 11 a.m. April 27.

Community breakfast precedes Trinity service

MERCER – Trinity Presbyterian Church, 110 East Market St., will mark the Day of Resurrection, beginning with a light breakfast for the community at 10 a.m. Sunday in the social hall before the Easter worship service.

Grace United Methodist schedules hymn sing

GROVE CITY – Grace United Methodist Church, 210 S. Broad St., will host a hymn sing at 7 p.m. April 27.

Christian Associates dinner slated for April 30

HERMITAGE – Christian Associates of the Shenango Valley will hold their annual dinner at 6:30 p.m. April 30 in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 159 Todd Ave.

Donation is $14 each or two for $25. Prepaid reservations are required; forms are available at your church or by calling 724-981-4272. Reservations and checks made out to Christian Associates must be received by Wednesday.

Musical program will be presented by Sharon High School Show Choir, Tiger Kittens and Men of Note.
