New pastor leading East Side Church

SHARON — East Side Church (Baptist – Disciples of Christ) will schedule an installation service for the Rev. Craig Thompson, who in June was hired as full-time pastor.

Rev. Thompson and his wife Rikki grew up near Lancaster, Ohio, and were married in 1996. He intended to become a history professor, but says God called him to the pastoral ministry while he was a student at Malone University in Canton, Ohio.

Rev. Thompson obtained his Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Mass. After seminary he served as pastor of First Baptist Church of Barre, Vt., for more than nine years. During that time, he was ordained in the American Baptist Churches, USA.

In addition to working with the congregation of East Side Church, Rev. Thompson said he looks forward to working with other pastors and churches in the Shenango Valley.
