District 2 Little League Tourney results



Following are results of District 2 Little League tournament action that have been reported to The Herald:

9-10

ä Farrell 11, Grove City 10 — At Farrell Tuesday, the hosts won a tight contest. Malik Miller and Terrance Holloway shared mound duties for the winners, while GC used 6 pitchers. Leading Farrell at the plate were Miller, Channing Phillips, Angelo Jackson, Kolby Bernat, Holloway and Kobe Green.

Pacing Grove City were: Justin Griffin triple, Austin Wilson and Derek Cameron 2 singles each, and Brandon Grace, Brendon Record, Brett Snyder and Brandon Dennis singles.

12’s

ä Hermitage 7, Reynolds 0 — Matt Delmonaco dealt a 3-hitter and Jason Gay garnered a solo shot, while Xavier Howze hammered a homer and double and drove in 4 runs.

ä Hermitage 6, Greenville 4 — Howze doubled, tripled and knocked in a handful of runs to bolster Matt Brooks’ pitching.

13-14

ä Greenville 10, Reynolds 8 — At Greenville Tuesday, the winners held off a late-game rally after building a 9-1 lead. Jarid Manning and Breden Gladysz pitched for the winners, while Justin Wolfe, Jason D’Urso and Justin Rhoades toed the rubber for Reynolds.

Leading the victors at the plate were: Manning 2 doubles, Caleb Dangrow, Garrett Fisher and Jason Irwin a double and single each; Gladysz 2 singles, and Jordan Fagley a single.

Pacing Reynolds were: D’Urso a double; Shane Reimold, Wolfe and Tyler Thompson 2 singles apiece; and Mike Custer, Mark Davis and Mike Eastlick singles.

ä Sharon 18, Grove City 3 (5 inn.) — At Grove City, a 13-run 4th frame broke open the contest for Sharon.

Steve Wareham was the winning pitcher, striking out 6 in tossing a 2-hitter. Offensively, Gino Merolillo mustered 4 hits, Jimmy Anderson 3, Nick Gadola singled and doubled, Tyler Little lent a pair of hits, Adam Cain and Wareham whacked two-baggers, and Leo Rahn and Nick Carlo contributed hits.

Ryan Grace, John Yauger and Adam Geibel took turns on the hill for Grove City, while Josh Doddy and Collin Lawson stroked Grove City’s lone hits.
