Pa. beats Ohio in Keystone PGA Junior Golf Bi-State Challenge

Derek Forese of Grove City led the Pennsylvania team to a 17-15 victory over Ohio in the Keystone PGA Junior Golf Bi-State Challenge at Grove City Country Club.

The event included 8 four ball matches and 8 foursome matches on Monday and 16 team matches on Tuesday.

Ohio led 5-3 after the four ball matches and the event was tied at 8-all after the foursomes.

On Tuesday, Pennsylvania won the singles matches 9-7 for a 2-day 17-15 victory.

In the final match on Tuesday, Forese finished 1-up over Mac Fiely of Greenville, Ohio.

“If Derek would have lost the last hole, Pennsylvania would have lost,” said tournament director Richard Yauger of Greenville.

Also competing for the Pa. team was Ryan Prokay of Grove City. In Tuesday matches, he fell to Michael Bernard of Huber Heights.

This was the 7th annual event. Last year, Ohio beat Pa., 20.5 to 11.5 at Foxfire Golf Club.
