DeGraaf garnered a 20:12 clocking, while Kildoo checked in at 16:13 as the Lady Eagles soared to a winning team total of 27. Grove City’s boys ended as runners-up to Plum, 33-43.

Kildoo’s teammate, Tom Bollinger (16:51) ended as runner-up, while Sara Chuzie (21:32), Jonna Schaper (21:33) and Becky Consbruck (22:14) ended 6th, 7th and 10th, respectively, for the Lady Eagles.

Central Catholic Invitational

At Schenley Park, Pittsburgh, both West Middlesex boys and girls teams competed in the AAA/AAAA division, and posted impressive performances according to veteran mentor Bob Morris.

The Ms. Reds (190 points) finished 4th in a field of 30-plus teams, trailing only Latrobe (640, Knoch (126) and Pine Richland (173). Leading Middlesex were Brittany Ruffo (21st, 20 minutes), Lauren Shingldecker (24h, 20:05), Karen Willey (35th, 20:21), Hannah Gaines (48th, 20:42), Morgan Swartz (62nd, 21:03), Jackie Monaco (69th, 21:17) and Shelby Pontera (72nd, 21:24).

The Big Reds (284) were just 2 points shy of North Allegheny and taking a top-10 berth. The AAA/AAAA division was won by Mount Lebanon (81), which edged North Hills (87). Quaker Valley (134) and Baldwin (179) ended 3rd and 4th, respectively, also in a 30-plus team field.

Adam Shrawder finished 4th in a time of 16:07 for Middlesex, and was bolstered by Mike Ryan (20th, 16:35), Kyle Devlin (72nd, 17:38), Colby Howe (87th, 17:56), Christian Douglas (103rd, 18:13), Richie Klumph (104th, 18:14) and Billy Hudson (123rd, 18:46).

The invitational is one of western Pennsylvania’s most tradition-rich and prestigious, Morris said.

In the junior varsity race, Middlesex’s Trey Powell (18:26) and John Sochor (18:35) placed 3rd and 7th, respectively, Morris reported.
