MERCER COUNTY — BOYS SOCCER

ä Grove City 1, Wilmington 0 — At New Wilmington Tuesday, the Eagles broke a scoreless tie when Peter Conley sprinted down the sideline turned in off a defensive mistake, and fired a shot past keeper Derek Nichols. Jed Grimm, GC goalkeeper,  was under constant pressure from Matt Balczon and Travis Brumbaugh, but Grove City’s defense held strong for the shutout. Grove City had 5 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks and 8 fouls. Wilmington had 13 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks and 6 fouls with one resulting in a yellow card.

ä Kennedy Catholic 5, Sharpsvile 0 — At McCullough Run on Tuesday, Ethan Feldmiller, Nolan Cianci, Anthony Panierello, Mike Thomas and Josh Repas garnered goals for the Golden Eagles (7-6-1).

GIRLS SOCCER

ä Hickory 12, Meadville 0 — At Hornet Stadium, host Hickory (12-1-1) had hat tricks from Lauren Bell and Sara Suler. Also, Casey Zreliak and Marissa DeJulia deposited 2 goals each and M.K. Bair and Laura Dillon 1 apiece. Suler was credited with 4 assists, Jackie White 2, and Bell, and Isabella Spadafora 1 each.

Goalkeeper Morgan McBride made 2 saves.

ä Wilmington 9, Sharpsville 2 — At McCullough Run, Anna Heartwell’s hat trick led the Lady Greyhounds. Also, Kyler Lum and Leanne Wynder went for 2 each and Allie Mays and Madison Huff 1 goal apiece.

Rose Stoyer scored Sharpsville’s 2 goals, assisted by Aislinn Frazier. Also, Rachel Toy and Julianna Sickafus split time in goal for Sharpsville.

ä Slippery Rock 15, Oil City 0 — For Slippery Rock (7-2 region), Jenny Dudek drilled 5 goals and Molly Joyce 3. Also, Jenna Whitmer and Loran Leonberg 2 each and Skyler Hinchberger, Emily DiSanti and Charlene Doerr 1 apiece. Abby Magliocca and Whitmer were credited with 3 and 2 assists, respectively. Dudek and Joyce had assists, also, while goalkeeper Hannah Willison made 6 saves.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

ä Brookfield 3, Campbell Memorial 0 — At Brookfield, the host Lady Warriors (12-10) won, 25-19, 25-16, 25-9, led by Delaney Saxton’s 11-kill, 11-serving points (7 aces) double-double.

Also for Brookfield: Brooke Hiner 7 kills; Madison Bonekovic 13 digs, 9 points (3 aces), Katie McMullin 10 digs; Megan Nicholson 5 blocks; Katie Bender 26 assists, 9 points (3 aces).

Brookfield Coach Bob Calvin reported the Lady Warriors will meet LaBrae in the opening round of the OHSAA sectional playoffs at a site and time to be announced.

ä Lakeview 3, Commodore Perry 0 — At Sheakleyville, the visiting Lady Sailors of Coach Lisa Herrick coasted to a 25-19, 25-10, 25-13 sweep, led by Taylor Reed’s 7-dig, 5-kill, 19-assist, 17-serving point (5 aces) line.

Also for Lakeview: Ashley Ray 15 digs, 20 serving points (5 aces); Sam Riddle 11 digs, 8 points; Tia Ray 9 digs, 9 kills, 6 points; Rachel McKean 8 kills, 10 points (3 aces); Salena Stutzman 12 points. Commodore Perry: No stats reported.

ä Hickory 3, Greenville 0 — At Greenville, the visiting Lady Hornets (6-2 region, 7-3 overall) handed Greenville a 25-19, 25-20, 25-17 loss.

Hickory: Danielle Collier 6 kills; Katie Gustas 12 kills; Nicole Lacava, Allyssa Kostka 5 kills apiece. Greenville: No stats reported.

JV: Greenville, 25-21, 19-25, 15-11 (Lexa Henwood 6 kills for Hickory).

ä Slippery Rock 26, Wilmington 32 — At Slippery Rock Tuesday, the Rockets were led by Maxwell in a time of 17:55.

ä Jamestown 15, Sharpsville 50 (forfeit) — On Tuesday, Jamestown’s Christian McElhaney won the exhibition in a time of 17:35.

ä Wilmington 20, Slippery Rock 35 — At Slippery

Rock Tuesday, the Lady Rockets’ Tabitha Donaldson won the race ahead of Allison Baldwin of Wilmington, but the Lady Hounds 5 of the top 6 finishers to cop the team victory.

ä Sharpsville 15, Jamestown 50 (forfeit) — On Tuesday in Jamestown, Sharpsville’s Maddie Przicina won the exhibition in 21 minutes flat.
