Tee times could aid Dolci bid at Open

MERCER COUNTY — OMAHA, Neb. — Sharon golf pro Denny Dolci said his main goal at the U.S. Senior Open this week is to be playing on the weekend. He’ll certainly have a good look at where he stands during the first 2 days of qualifying.

Dolci has the final morning tee time (9:06 a.m.) today off the No. 1 tee at Omaha  Country Club, but more importantly has the final afternoon tee time (2:51 p.m.) Friday off the No. 10 tee.

That gives the local standout who plays out of Tam O’Shanter Golf Course, Hermitage, a good view of where the rest of the field stands as he comes down the final holes on Friday. And, if he watches the scoreboard, he’ll have a solid idea of his chances of making it to the weekend.

Dolci, 52, will be playing today and Friday with Tom Brandes, an amateur out of Bellevue, Wash., and Steve Wells, a club pro out of Niles, Mich. Brandes qualified in 2009 also for the Open.
