MERCER COUNTY — Sharpsville High senior righthander Jalen Mockabee tossed a complete-game 2-hitter Monday afternoon, leading the Region 2-AA-leading Blue Devils to a 2-0 win over Hickory.

At South Py, the masterful Mockabee struck out 6 and walked 5. Mark DiBattiste’s 5th-inning single broke up Mockabee’s no-hit bid. Mockabee also played a part in Sharpsville’s 2nd stanza scores. He drilled a leadoff single, then after Tanner Morris’ 1-out base hit, both scored on Taylor Lenzi’s double for the Blue Devils (8-1 region, 10-2 overall).
