GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
ä Wilmington 103, Reynolds 47 — At Transfer, speedster Tessa Sikora (100, 200, plus the high jump), distance ace Rikki Brumbaugh (3200-meter run, distance-relay leg) and thrower Julie Falvo (shot, disc) led the Lady Hounds. Also, Hannah Drake doubled up in the long and triple jumps.
For Reynolds, Candi Arnold annexed wins in the 800- and 1600-meter runs and anchored the Lady Raiders’ winning mile-relay foursome. Also Brooke Bresnan (high hurdles, 4x4 leg) contributed for Reynolds.
ä West Middlesex 138, Kennedy Catholic 10; West Middlesex 131, Farrell 17 — At West Middlesex, the Ms. Reds of coach Bob Morris dominated led by Sara Lucich who set a school recod in the javelin.
Lucich tossed the spear 126-5, beating the mark of Jessica Bittler (123-9) from 2010.
Kelsey Murray won both hurdles events for West Middlesex, while Rachel DeMaria won the discus and shot put.
The lone winner for Kennedy was Godfrey in the 100, while Farrell’s Jarissa Sharper won the 100 and 200.
ä Hickory 117, Sharon 33 — At Hornet Stadium, Lexi Bible bested the field in the 1600- and 3200-meter runs and lent a leg to the winning distance relay to lead host Hickory.
Also for the Lady Hornets (1-0-1), Madi Bell (high hurdles, sprint-relay leg), Nikki Arbanas (100, sprint-relay leg), Jackie White (800, 4x8 relay leg) and Morgan Pellis (long jump, sprint-relay leg) set the pace.
Davis dominated for Sharon, winning the 200- and 400-meter sprints and anchoring the triumphant Lady Tigers’ 4x4 relay foursome.
ä West Middlesex 4, Reynolds 0 — At West Middlesex Monday, the Big Reds rode the arm of Mike Ginther and solid defense to the shutout.
Ginther fanned 11 and allowed 4 hits in going the distance. Aaron Webb clubbed a pair of homers, while Jared Palmer poled a single and homer.
For Reynolds, Mahlon took the loss, whiffing 10, while yielding 5 hits. He aided his cause with 3 singles.
ä Rocky Grove 9, Lakeview 6 — At Stoneboro Monday, the host Sailors dropped to 0-3 in the loss to the Grovers. Brett Schneider was the winning pitcher, while Zack Bigley took the loss. Scott Murray and Schneider blasted homers for the winners (2-1).
Shane Whitehouse had a double, while Andrew Parimuha and Brandon Persch homered for the Sailors.
ä Edgewood 11, Brookfield 1 (6 inn.) — At Brookfield Twp. Park on Monday, the visitors from Ashtabula were led by Andrew Graeb, Connor McLaughlin and Steve Perkio, each with 2 hits. Graeb and McLaughlin each tallied 3 times and Alex Newsome tallied twice.
Winning pitcher Joey Zappitelli went the distance, fanning 4, walking 3 and allowing just 4 hits, including 3 from Jeremy Quinlan, which included a triple. Eric Martin drove in the Warriors’ lone run, while Anthony Weibruda was the losing hurler.
Tuesday’s Sharpsville-at-Lakeview track meet was postponed and tentatively scheduled for April 23, with both teams at Reynolds.
