MERCER COUNTY —
Hickory High senior standout Michelle DeGerolamo was recently named to the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches All-State team.
One of three District 10 players selected, she is only the 2nd Hickory player (Allison Richards was first) ever picked to the elite group.
“Since her freshman year she has been an impact player for our program,” said coach B.J. Rudge. “The first two years she was on offense and then her junior year we moved her to defense, which is the position she was chosen for the all-state team. On defense she provided a dominant presence for our team as she was instrumental in helping the team record 24 shutouts in both her junior and senior years.”
DeGerolamo was a 4-year starter for the Lady Hornets, had 35 career assists (3rd most in school history), 31 career goals and was part of 4 playoff appearances, 2 region championships and a composite record of 64-10-3.
She scored 2 goals in the playoffs, including the go-ahead goal in the 1st-round win over Gen. McLane.
DeGerolamo was 1st team All-Region, Hickory’s team MVP and captain. Rudge praised, “She especially did a great job mentoring our younger players as the majority of our starters this season were underclassmen.”
