Roundup: Sharpsville, Hickory boys soccer teams grab wins

ä Sharpsville 4, West Middlesex 0 —
At West Middlesex, the Blue Devils posted the shutout over the Big Reds.

Bill Shea, Geno Commisso, Chris Enos and Chris Frye scored for the Blue Devils. Chris Enos had 2 assists and Frye and Ryan Ramsey were credited with assists.

ä Hickory 3, Franklin 1 — Under the lights in Franklin Monday night, the Hornets improved to 10-4-3 with the 2-goal win over the Knights.

Hickory scored a pair of goals to take a 2-0 lead after the opening half and then tallied the final goal in the 2nd session.

Zack Walters led the way for the Hornets with a pair of goals. David Liszewski buried the other goal in the net for Hickory.

Evan Montgomery was credited with 2 assists for the Hornets. Donte Green registered 10 saves between the pipes for Hickory.

Isaac Drain scored for Franklin. Geoffrey Spaid notched 9 saves in goal for the Knights.

Hickory hosts Grove City at Hornet Stadium Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. It is Senior Night for the Hornets.

ä Grove City 3, Slippery Rock 3 (2OT) — At Slippery Rock, the Eagles and Rockets battled to a tie.

Mark Cessar gave SR a 1-0 lead with a goal midway through the 1st half.

Grove City went up 2-1 on goals by Peter Conley and Caleb Stewart. Both of those goals were assisted by Cole Latimer.

Slippery Rock tied the game at 2-all just prior to halftime on a penalty kick that was buried by Luc LaChance.

In the 2nd half, Noah Stewart scored on a direct kick for GC and Josh Jones tied it at 3-all with a goal for the Rockets.

Slippery Rock outshot GC 17-9.


ä Mercer 3, Commodore Perry 1 —
At Sheakleyville, Melissa Shoemaker posted 23 points (6 aces) and 14 assists in leading the Lady M’s (6-8) past the Lady Panthers, 12-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-7.

ä Grove City 3, A.C. Valley 2 — At “The Eagles Nest in Grove City, the Lady Eagles posted a thrilling 19-25, 25-22, 25-18, 23-25, 15-12 win over A.C. Valley of District 9.

ä Farrell 3, New Castle 0 — At E.J. McCluskey Gymnasium in Farrell, the Lady Steelers swept New Castle, 25-21, 25-14, 25-8.
