The Wilmington girls placed 5th and West Middlesex 7th on Saturday and Grove City’s Ryan Budnik and Aaron Benka led the local contingent of competitors at the PIAA Cross Country Championships in Hershey.
Holy Cross of District 2 copped the team title with 64 points. Wilmington had 195 and West Middlesex 198.
Vincentian Academy’s Marianne Abdalah captured the individual title in 18:24. She finished nearly a minute ahead of Avonworth’s Beth Shenck (19:20)
WM’s Chloe Tyillian led the way for area runners with a 25th-place finish in 20:28. Wilmington’s Allison Baldwin placed 55th (21:17).
Also for WM, Kristen White was 58th (21:20), Alyson Pierce 69th (21:34), Sophia Kachulis 96th (21:58), Jordan Aubel 136th (22:58), Anna Zrile 147th (23:11) and Helene Zrile 170th (23:57).
For Wilmington, Hannah Winters 62nd (21:25), Lexi Brumbaugh 73rd (21:37), Kate Robb 90th (21:56), Hannah Drake 98th (21:59), Rikki Brumbaugh 119th (22:30) and Isabel Sherwood 191st (25:23).
Also, Sharpsville’s Maddie Przicina placed 64th with a 21:27 clocking.
Dallas High of District 2 copped the team title with 99 points. Hickory finished 10th with 292.
Elizabeth Chikotas of Saucon Valley clocked in at 18:43 to capture the crown. Regan Rome of Dallas was 2nd (19:10).
Hickory’s Lexi Bible led the locals by placing 31st in 20:10. Grove City’s Catie Jaskowak was 36th (20:25).
Also for Hickory, Jackie Abraham 50th (20:40), Haley Boyd 78th (20:56), Bailey Brown 159th (21:55), Kyra Henderson 216th (23:37), Christa Marrie 225th (24:03) and Paige Brown 231st (24:46).
Saegertown captured the team title with 60 points.
Griffin Molino of South Williamsport finished 1st overall in 15:54 while Maplewood’s Jeremy Parsons was 2nd (16:25).
Greenville’s Dylan Foley placed 34th in 17:29, Commodore Perry’s Nate White was 46th (17:40) and West Middlesex’s David Johnson was 53rd (17:45) and Levi Canon 84th (18:11).
Tunkhannock Area captured the team title with 101 points. Grove City was 5th with 161.
Dallas High’s Dominic Deluca clocked in at 16:21 to win the individual title. Lake-Lehman’s Dominic Hockenbury was runner-up (16:36).
GC juniors Ryan Budnik and Aaron Benka had the best finishes among all area runners Saturday. Budnik placed 8th in 16:50 while Benka was 10th in 16:51.
Also for GC, Braydon Pyle was 73rd (17:47), Ryan Whiteman 95th (17:58), Jordan Powell 141st (18:29), John Paul Depew 158th (18:40), Dillon McConnell 192nd (19:10).
Hickory’s Logan Griffen finished 103rd in 18:02.
