Roundup: Sharon, WM, Hickory girls soccer teams win

ä Sharon 4, Sharpsville 1 —
At McCullough Run, Emma Levitt led the visiting Lady Tigers with 2 tallies, while Lydia Connelly and Kayla Reardon recorded goals. Kieran Zajac assisted on 2 scores, and goalkeeper Kelsie McGranahan made 10 saves for Sharon (2-3 region, 3-6 overall).

Ashley Hall had Sharpsville’s lone score off a penalty kick.

ä West Middlesex 3, Kennedy Catholic 1 — At West Middlesex, Molly Stonebraker had 2 goals in leading WM (2-3, 5-4-1). Kaitlyn Beck had the other goal for the Ms. Reds and Kayla Ballard and Gretchen Elsey had assists. Brianna Spencer notched 11 saves in net.

McKayla Fusco scored the lone goal for the Lady Golden Eagles off an assist from Evita Scoccia. Elizabeth Volkay posted 14 saves in goal.

ä Hickory 8, Slippery Rock 1 — Under the lights at Hornet Stadium, Hickory routed the Lady Rockets.

Lauren Bell and Sara Suler both had hat tricks for the Lady Hornets. Jackie White and Marissa DeJulia had the other goals for Hickory (10-1). White and Isabella Spadafora had 2 assists each and DeJulia, Lauren Bell and Jada Poindexter were credited with 1 assist each. Morgan McBride notched 5 saves between the pipes.

Molly Joyce scored for Slippery Rock off an assist from Bailey Boyd.

At Buhl Farm Park, the host Lady Tigers triumphed, led by a singles winners Mimi Terman and Bella Scarmack and the tandem of Erin Hosick-Monica Campbell.

ä Greenville 3, Kennedy Catholic 2 — Greenville garnered the win, led by Cameron Leary at 2nd singles and the Lady Trojans tandems of Brooke Marini-Kasslyn Holder and Lauren Faber-Maddie Gentile.

Jensen Kirila and Abby Lenhart won at 1st and 3rd singles to key KC.

ä Hickory 3, Grove City 2 — At Grove City, the visiting Lady Hornets harvested the road win, led by Lauren McGonigle and Rachel Mettee and 2nd and 3rd singles and the doubles duo of Nikki Marrone-Bailey McLaughlin.

Claire Casalnova, at 1st singles, and the No. 2 tandem of Lauren Steele-Emily Krofcheck were winners for Grove City.

BOYS SOCCER

ä Sharon 4, Franklin 1 —
At Franklin on Monday, Joey Zajac and Aaron Martwinski both had 2 goals and 1 assist as the Tigers (5-4) topped the Knights.

Joey Rahn had 2 assists for Sharon and Mike Piccirilli notched 10 saves in goal.

Ted Richards scored for Franklin with only 25 seconds left to play. Jeff Spaid made a dozen saves between the pipes for the Knights.

ä Wilmington 2, Slippery Rock 1 — At New Wilmington Monday night, the host Hounds erased a 1-0 deficit as Ryan DiLullo and Buddy Wynder scored 2nd-half goals.

Matthew Dempsey, assisted by Ben Magliocca, scored Slippery Rock’s 1st-half goal.

Jason Bluedorn made 1 save in goal for Slippery Rock; Derek Nichols notched 2 saves in Wilmington’s net.

At Grove City Country Club, the host Eagles were led by co-medalist Fontaine McFeaters’ round of 42. She shared the laurels with West Middlesex’s Ryan Dogan.

ä Grove City 21, Hickory 40 — At Hermitage, the visiting Eagles (5-0) handed the Hornets (4-1) their 1st loss of the season.

Aaron Benka (16:59) and Ryan Budnik finished 1-2 for Grove City. Hickory’s Kyle Boyd placed 3rd in 17:39.

At Hermitage, the host Lady Hornets (5-0) clinched at least a share of the region title as Lexi Bible finished 1st for Hickory in 19:53, 4 seconds ahead of GC’s Catie Jaskowak.

ä Greenville 15, Reynolds 50 — At Greenville, Maddie Thrasher led the triumphant Lady Trojans with her winning time of 21:45.

ä West Middlesex 15, Mercer 48 — At West Middlesex, Kristen White placed 1st for the Ms. Reds, clocking in at 21:11. Chloé Tyillian, Allyson Pierce and Anna Zrile, Sophia Kachulis rounded out WM’s top 5. Jamie Burdette finished 6th for the Lady M’s.

ä Sharpsville 28, Commodore Perry 28 — At Buhl Farm Park, the host Blue Devils prevailed, led by Maddie Przicina, who clocked in 19:39, 12 ticks ahead of Commodore Perry’s Shae Grinnell.

Sharpsville won based on the tiebreaker of the higher 6th-place finisher.
