Roundup: Hickory's Colbert ties for 22nd at PIAA Golf Championships

- — Hickory High junior Billy Colbert finished in a 3-way tie for 22nd place at the PIAA Class AA Golf Championships Tuesday at Heritage Hills Resort in York, Pa.

Colbert shot a 41-41—82 on Tuesday. He carded an 81 Monday and finished with a 2-day total of 163.

Fairfield senior Isaiah Logue shot a 70-69—139 to finish 3-under par at Heritage Hills. Logue finished 2 strokes ahead of Cole Miller, a senior from Northwestern Lehigh.

Roland Massimino of New Hope-Solebury and Owen Miller from Burgettstown tied for 3rd place with 145s.


ä Grove City 2, Commodore Perry 1 —
At Forker Field in Grove City Monday, coach Ron Churchill’s Eagles edged the Panthers.

GC took a 1-0 lead midway through the 1st half when Ryan Ballard fired in a goal off a corner kick by Cole Latimer.

Latimer gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead in the 2nd half on a pass from Peter Conley. Jed Grimm was in goal for the Eagles.

David Jeffries had the lone goal for Commodore Perry.

ä Hickory 3, Conneaut Area 1 — At Linesville, the visiting Hornets harvested the win as they prep for the District 10 Class AA playoffs.

Hickory (11-4-2) will play Monday at Franklin against an as yet to be determined opponent.

Tuesday night, Josh Andrezjewski, Hayden Pozega and Parker Redmond garnered goals and Shaun McGowan got an assist.

Hickory outshot CASH, 13-8, and Hornets’ goalkeeper Donte Green made 8 saves.

For CASH, Tyler Bone scored, with Mark McLean assisting. Eagles’ goalkeeper Branden Haylett had a dozen saves.

ä Sharon 2, Kennedy Catholic 1 — At Butala Stadium Monday, Joey Rahn and Aaron Martwinski tallied Tigers (7-9) goals. Joey Zajac assisted on Martwinski’s goal. Mike Piccirilli posted 17 saves in goal for the Tigers.


ä Grove City 5, Sharon 0 —
At Tiger Stadium, Sharon, on Monday, the visiting Lady Eagles rolled. Julie Distasi notched a pair of goals, while Kaile Davis scored on a PK and Taylor Gregg and Brooke Huff also hit the net. Assists were recorded by Anna Williams, Adasia Ritenour and Abby Fulkerson. Goalkeeper Olivia Andrews was cited.


ä West Middlesex 3, Jamestown 0 —
At West Middlesex, the Ms. Reds improved to a perfect 13-0 in Region 1-A and 15-0 overall with the 25-12, 25-10, 25-11 sweep.
