Carl ‘Hoss’ Roth

Carl “Hoss” Roth, 1040 Bedford Road, Masury, died at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday (7-19-06) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. He was 81.

Mr. Roth was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Mount Harris, Colo., a son of John and Mary Wagoner Roth.

He served our country in the Navy during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8860, Masury. He also was a member of St. Bernadette’s Church, Masury.

Carl retired after working 32 years for Republic Steel, Warren, Ohio, as a slitter operator.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include: his wife, the former Sue Geydos, whom he married July 14, 1951; two daughters, Janet Combine, Hubbard; and Mary Ann Roth-Bradley, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a sister, Tillie Benadella, Masury; four grandchildren, Raymond Combine II and Shawn, Christopher and Leah Bradley; and two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Kirsten.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Sue A. Combine; his brothers, John Roth and James “Jake” Roth; and a sister, Margaret Wilson.

As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be made to the family.

Service: Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Frank Zanni, pastor of St. Bernadette’s Church, Masury, officiating.

Burial: Brookfield Township Cemetery with full military honors.
