CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP — Clarissa “Cris” S. Smith Bishop, Cranberry Township, Butler County, formerly of Lake Latonka, Ingomar, Pa., and Venice, Fla., died at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2006, in Sherwood Oaks after a long illness. She was 84.

Mrs. Bishop was born Oct. 19, 1922, in Pittsburgh to Alvin and Mary Wenger Smith.

Her husband of 62 years, Louis C. Bishop, survives.

She was known in the North Hills as a costumer/seamstress for numerous musical productions and for Ingomar Theatre in the Round. During World War II, Cris was employed as an accountant at various air bases where her husband was in training.

As a member for 60 years of Ingomar (Pa.) Methodist Church, she belonged to the church choir for 30 years and was a church volunteer.

She was the loving mother of Lynn B. Lynn and Jan B. Closson, both Franklin Park; and Jay L. Bishop, Ohio; sister of Lydia S. Wituzynski, Franklin Park; and Marjorie S. Swartzwelder, Beaver County; and niece of Edith S. Sigmund, Westview, who after the loss of Clarissa’s parents, took her as a teenager into her home and always loving arms.

Mrs. Bishop also leaves six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday (6-12-06) in Ingomar (Pa.) Methodist Church. Everyone is asked to meet at the church.

Burial: Ingomar Methodist Church Cemetery.
