Iron Mike

'Iron' Mike Tyson added the nickname hero to his resume when he helped an injured motorist Sept. 16 in Las Vegas.

Mike Tyson gives off a certain persona that can be intimidating. Despite not having been in an actual professional boxing match since 2006, the former heavyweight champion of the world still can give off a menacing vibe. The face tattoo doesn't hurt.

However, Iron Mike was anything but menacing Sept. 16 when he was called a superhero by Ryan Chesley when Tyson came to his aid after a crash on Las Vegas interstate, according to the Associated Press.

Chesley, 29, was on Interstate 15 when a taxi cut him off and he went down, according to his lawyer Stephen Stubbs. As Chesley laid on the ground, Tyson appeared out of nowhere and took control of the situation.

According to Stubbs, Tyson was yelling at people not to touch the injured man. He then talked to Chesley until the paramedics arrived on the scene.

"He thought he was hallucinating," Stubbs told media outlets. "He thought he was in some other world."

Just as quickly as Tyson had appeared, he disappeared from the chaotic scene. But before he left, Chesley couldn't let the opportunity pass without getting a keepsake. Despite suffering broken bones and torn ligaments, Chesley managed to take a picture of the iconic boxer on his camera phone.

As if the story couldn't getting any more surreal, Chesley later sent Tyson a fruit basket to say thank you.

Tyson's encounter with Chesley comes days after he made news for verbally attacking Toronto CP24 reporter Nathan Downer, who called him a convicted rapist on live TV. The profanity-laced tired went viral within hours.

Yet, none of that, or any of Tyson's previous missteps, seemed to bother Chesley. Along with the fruit basket, he attached a handwritten note to the former champ.

"Thank you so much for looking over me after my accident," said the note, which Tyson’s assistant Steve Lott provided to The Associated Press. "It has to be the most reassuring thing in the world to have Mike Tyson telling people not to touch me."
