Hermitage Historical Society tree displays

HERMITAGE – Hermitage Historical Society, 5465 E. State St., Hermitage, invites everyone to the 18th year of celebrating the Christmas season at the Stewart House.

The Victorian home is adorned with 30 beautifully designed trees and joyous inspirations throughout each room of the elaborate 150-year-old dwelling.

Celebrations will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and Dec. 7, 8,14 and 15 and 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6 and 13.

Tickets will be available for Chinese auction baskets in the house, and there will be gently used Christmas items for sale in the garage.

Grove City College Light-Up Night

GROVE CITY – Grove City College’s annual Light-up Night will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on the campus Quad.

President Paul J. McNulty, Interim Chaplain Dr. D. Dean Weaver and the Wolverine Marching band will lead the campus community as it ushers in the Christmas season with the traditional lighting of the star atop Rockwell Hall.

Students and the community are invited to gather at the patio of Mary Anderson Pew South residence hall for the ceremonial lighting, which includes refreshments, favorite Christmas hymns and the reading of J. M. Lowrie’s “Star in the East.”

The event is free and open to the public.

Mercer Christmas on the Square

MERCER – The Mercer Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Christmas on the Square from 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 6 on the Courthouse Square.

This free event ushers in the season for the community. Santa will arrive on a firetruck to light the courthouse tree, assisted by his honorary elf, Landon Chapin. Landon is a kindergardener who was nominated for his work and dedication to help local animal shelters.

Caroling, dancing, and storytelling will fill the air all evening. Mercer County Animal Response Team, along with many local organizations, will provide treats and activities for all who attend.

There will be a food truck, and local merchants will be open with fun activities planned.

Courthouse choral concerts

MERCER – The 2019 Mercer County Courthouse Christmas Concert Series begins Dec. 4 with student choral voices filling the courthouse rotunda with holiday sounds.

Concerts begin at 12:30 p.m., although visitors should arrive early to allow time to get through security screening at the courthouse south entrance.
