Thiel College hosting Lighting Way program



GREENVILLE — Thiel College in Greenville will hold a special holiday season lighting ceremony and worship service during its Lighting the Way event at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 in the college’s David Johnson Memorial Chapel.

Scripture readings and Advent hymns will be part of the service. Participants will process outdoors to the plaza for the lighting of the Christmas tree.

The Rev. Dr. Paul A. Baglyos, campus pastor, will officiate. The college’s Chamber Singers and members of the Handbell Ringers will perform, all directed by Dr. Michael Bray, music professor.

Christmas Magic, Light Up slated in Sandy Lake



SANDY LAKE — Christmas Magic and Light Up Night is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1 in the downtown business district of Sandy Lake.

“Christmas Magic Bingo” will have a grand prize $100 gift certificate redeemable at participating merchants. The drawing will be 8:15 p.m. that day in the Fire Hall.

Bingo cards are available in participating businesses. Businesses will offer refreshments and prize drawings.

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at 6 p.m. at the borough building. They will be on hand until 8 p.m. to visit with children.

A home decorating contest will offer a $100 savings bond for first prize; and a $50 bond, second.

Children ages 3 and younger, 4 through 6 and 7 through 10 can color pictures available in CM Broadhead Child Development Center, Montgomery Insurance and Walker Chevrolet.

Free horse and wagon rides, live reindeer, live music, characters and a train display also are planned.
