PSU-Shenango hosting Kelly Bell Band

SHARON – The Kelly Bell Band will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday11/8 in the auditorium on the Shenango Campus of Pennsylvania State University in Sharon.

The Baltimore-based blues group has performed with James Brown, Black Crows, Ziggy Marley, Matchbox 20 and Bo Diddley.

Macy’s helping Goodwillby collecting coats

SHENANGO VALLEY — Clean, gently used coats can be traded Wednesday through Monday in Macy’s locations for the benefit of Goodwill.

For each coat donated, customers will receive a $20 discount off the price of a new woman’s coat costing $75 or more.

Donated coats will be sold in Goodwill retail stores, with proceeds to fund job training and career programs for people with disabilities, welfare recipients and other job-seekers.

Farrell VFW schedules Veterans Day parade

FARRELL — Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, Farrell, will have its Veterans Day parade on Saturday.

Groups and organizations should report from 11 to 11:30 a.m. that day to their assigned locations for lineup.

The parade will move at noon from the VFW on Idaho Street and Indiana Avenue and go south on Indiana to Roemer Boulevard and west on Roemer to Spearman Avenue. It will disband in the area of the city building and Veterans Square.

The reviewing stand will be in front of the city building. For the safety of children, participants should not throw candy from vehicles but may pass it out at curbside.

Parking will be prohibited from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Indiana and Roemer.

Grove City preparing for Christmas events

GROVE CITY — Holiday events are set in Grove City.

Olde Town Grove City open house will begin at noon Nov. 19. Parking will be available between Tower Presbyterian Church and the Guthrie Theatre, accessed from the rear on Grace Street off Pine Street.

Side streets, including College and Pine, have parking, as does the borough parking lot accessed from College between Broad and Center streets.

Olde Town Grove City Promotion Committee will sponsor a Christmas parade at 7 p.m. Nov. 28. The parade will start on East Pine and Monroe streets, go to South Broad and conclude on Limberg Way, ending with dropping Santa Claus at Candy Cane Lane.

There will be a competition for the best floats with a Christmas theme. First prize will be $100; and second, $50. Judging will be at 6:30 p.m.

County historical society program to cover W.Va.

MERCER — Mercer County Historical Society’s Civil War Roundtable will host a program from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 14 in the society’s headquarters at 119 S. Pitt St., Mercer. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Kent Warman will present “A Civil War Within the Civil War, the Formation of West Virginia — that Wheeling Feeling.”
