HERMITAGE – Emil “Chuck” Hoyt, of Hermitage, celebrates his 95th birthday Nov. 6.
Born in Farrell in 1924, Chuck, has lived his full and healthy 95 years in the Farrell, Sharon and Hermitage area.
After returning home from a stint with the Navy in the Pacific during World War II, Chuck earned a degree in electrical engineering. Hoyt then went to work for Westinghouse, designing transformers until his retirement.
Today, many visitors to UPMC Horizon, Farrell, recognize Chuck as the friendly greeter volunteer wearing the red coat on Monday and Friday mornings. Others will recognize him as one of the famous Pumpkin Roll Bakers at Holy Cross Orthodox Church.
Chuck is an avid reader, (a Herald subscriber for 60-plus years), loves to fix gadgets, and enjoys sports.
