'Music of World War II' invades Sharon

SHARON — The Sharon Music Club hosts “The Music of World War II” at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 in Cordia Commons at Shenango Inn.

Phillip Atteberry is the presenter for the program that is free and open to the public.

The presentation is a program of the Pennsylvania Humanities Council and is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities and its “We The People” initiative.

The PHC works to inspire people to come together and share a life of learning by exploring history, literature, the arts and ideas that shape the human experience.

Theatre holding tryouts for 'A Christmas Carol'

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre will hold auditions at 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the playhouse for its upcoming production of “A Christmas Carol.”

Director David El’Hatton is seeking actors 10 years old and up and adults of all ages for the production, which plays Dec. 11 through Dec. 16. The schedule includes some weekday daytime performances for area schools.

“A Christmas Carol,” adapted by Michelle Vacca from the classic Charles Dickens novel, tells the story of hard-hearted Ebeneezer Scrooge, who changes his miserly ways one Christmas Eve when he encounters the spirits of his past, present and future.

Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script and should bring a wallet size photo or snapshot with them. For more information, call 330-788-8739.
