Sharon First UM to host winter party Monday
SHARON – Sharon First United Methodist Church, 237 W Silver St., will hold a kids’ winter party from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday. There will be games, crafts and food.
Pastor will be guest at Ash Wednesday service
SHARON – Rev. Charles Johnson, pastor of Cedar Avenue Church of God, Sharon, will be the guest at a special Ash Wednesday Spiritual Renewal service at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at Valley Baptist Church, 500 Sharon New Castle Road, Farrell.
All are welcome. Rev. T. James Harrison is host pastor.
Guest speaker Feb. 23 at Valley Baptist
FARRELL – In observance of Black History Month Rev. Brian Johnson, retired Pastor of New Light Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest, bringing the Word at Valley Baptist Church, 500 Sharon New Castle Road, Farrell, on Feb. 23, at the 11 a.m. worship service.
All are encouraged to wear African inspired attire. The Women’s Choir will sing. Rev. T. James Harrison is host pastor.
Unity Church to host monthly Even Song
LACKAWANNOCK TOWNSHIP – The Unity Church at Greenfield, 1857 Mercer West Middlesex Road (Route 318) in Lackawannock Township, invites the community to come and attend Even Song at Unity.
A free dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the church social hall. Singing in the sanctuary begins at 6:30 p.m.
Those attending the program are invited to choose their favorite hymns to be sung by all. Everyone is invited to both the dinner and the sanctuary music program. Even Song is held the third Sunday evening of each month to which all are invited regardless of church of fellowship connection. (There have been at least 17 churches represented at Even Song in the last few months.)
Pastor Jim Moose leads the music. Accompanists are Sharon Burns, keyboard, and Jane Bartholomew on piano from the host church. The organist of First United Methodist Church, Sharon, Janet Stahl, is at the organ.
Also coming to Unity on Shrove Tuesday will be a “Soup Supper” to which all are invited from 4 to 6:30 p.m. There will be at least 20 various kinds of soup served for a donation only. The proceeds of which all go to mission efforts of the church.
On Ash Wednesday worship will be held at 7 p.m. with the pastor sharing.
Unity is handicapped accessible from the parking lot side door. Unity Church at Greenfield is a Presbyterian congregation where friends are found and Christ is crowned.
Second Baptist schedules educational service
SHARPSVILLE – Second Baptist Church, Sharpsville, will have the Brenda Reno Educational Service at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Guest speaker will be Phil Black of Detroit, director of the Manhood Project. He’s referred to as “Coach Phil.”
Motivational speaker will be Jacara Green. Musical selections will be by Aretha Dawson, Briah McArthur and Marcel Chambers.
Come and share this time and bring the youth.

Center offers ‘coffee and contemplation’ program
VILLA MARIA – Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center, 2067 Evergreen Road, Villa Maria, holds Coffee and Contemplation with Mary Stanco, HM, “Loving Winter Solitude” from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The series focuses on a variety of spiritual and holistic topics. The program provides participants with input from a presenter and includes time for reflection and discussion.
Program participants are welcome to stay for lunch. Cost is $7 (optional lunch an additional $5).
Widow/Widowers group to hold luncheon
HERMITAGE – The Widow/Widowers group at Faith Presbyterian Church will have the next meeting at noon Feb. 20 in the church fellowship hall, 2370 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage.
This is a pot luck luncheon. Attendees are asked to bring a favorite dish to share.
All widows and widowers are welcome.
Orangeville Baptist schedules services
SHARPSVILLE – Orangeville Baptist Church, 7600 Orangeville Road in Sharpsville, will hold Sunday school for all ages at 10 a.m. Sunday.
The worship service is at 11 a.m.
A Bible study and evening prayer are scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The church is always collecting food for the food pantry to help any in need. The church is also looking for people who may need a helping hand in any way; just call the church or Pastor Harley.
The church is collecting candy for the Easter Egg Hunt.
A Valentine’s Day dinner is set for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21. The cost is $10 per couple.
Next men’s breakfast is 10 a.m. Feb. 29.
Women’s ministry meeting is 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Teens have an opportunity to attend the Mercy Me and Jeremy Camp concert at the Covelli Center at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21. Tickets are $35.
