Greater Mt. Zion Church to hold tent revival

FARRELL – Greater Mt. Zion Church, 1825 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, will hold its annual tent revival starting Sunday and running through Friday at Veteran Square, Farrell.

The event is themed “He Shall Fight for You” (Deuteronomy 1:30) and will include a Bible seminar each night at 6:30 p.m. The revival will include an afternoon prayer each day from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m and Bible school from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Superintendent Tyrone Steals will speak at the 11:30 a.m. Sunday service. 

The revival also has daily services at 7:30 p.m. Evening speakers are: Elder Brandon Hollis Sunday; Overseer Cameron Bowman on Monday; Pastor T. James Harrison on Tuesday; Bishop C. Shawn Tyson on Wednesday; Pastor Lashawn Youngblood for Women’s Night on Thursday; and Dr. Eugene Austin on Friday.

Trinity Presbyterianplans casual service 

MERCER – Trinity Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Market St., invites the community to a casual service at 11 a.m. Sunday at Zahniser Lodge, across the road from the Jefferson Township Building, 7407 Lamor Road, Mercer.

The family-friendly event will feature camp songs with Michael Peterson as guitarist. Those attending should bring a lawn chair.

A picnic will follow. Those attending are invited to bring a dish to share. Beverages will be provided.

Women’s conferencebegins Aug. 5

SHARON – The Isaiah 49, Inc., Sixth Annual International Women’s Empowerment Conference will hold its Kick Off Service on Aug. 5 at Penn State Shenango’s campus auditorium.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., and the service will begin at 6 p.m.

Evangelist Christal Graham-Jones will lead the service in welcoming the featured speaker, Rev. Judith Modiba, from Johannesburg, South Africa. Lady Phyllis Bolling of Second Baptist Church in Farrell will lead a “100 Voice Community Choir” during the Kick Off service.

Anyone interested in joining the choir may attend rehearsal at 6 p.m. on July 29 at Valley Baptist Church, 500 Sharon-New Castle Road, Farrell.

Seeds of Faith to open food truck

FARRELL — Seeds of Faith Ministry of Farrell will set up its food truck from noon to 8 p.m. today and Saturday at the 1108 Fruit Ave., Farrell.

The menu will include fresh-cut fries, BBQ beef brisket and Philly chicken. Seeds of Faith accepts all major credit cards.

Sharon church hosts Community Day

SHARON – Sts. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 699 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, will hold Community Day from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 3.

There will be music, games, prizes, raffle baskets, food and crafts for adults and children.

Dinner at St. George’s Serbian Orthodox Church

HERMITAGE – St. George’s Serbian Orthodox Church, 65 S. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, will hold its Serbian beef goulash dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 18.

The menu includes goulash – a traditional eastern European dish of beef, carrots, potatoes in a sauce and served on noodles – a garden salad, dessert and coffee.

Cost is $10, and service is available for dine-in or takeout.

Mt. Olive to mark Woman Day

MASURY – Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 8148 Ulp St., Masury, will celebrate Woman Day during its 11 a.m. service Sunday.

Elder Cheryl Levy of the Fellowship Tabernacle Christian Center will be guest speaker. Pastor Raymond O. Brown will represent Mt. Olive as host.

Outdoor dedication service at Community Missionary

FARRELL – Community Missionary Baptist Church, 1013 Emerson Ave., Farrell, will hold its 11 a.m. service Sunday outside, weather permitting.

During the service, the church will dedicate its new kitchen and outdoor sign. The Rev. Troy Hunter, pastor, will deliver the message, and the praise team ministry will provide music.

There will be a meal following the service. 

Women-focused service planned for Sunday

Greater New and Living Way Temple Women’s Ministry will hold a special service at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church, 840 Highland Road, Sharon.

The service, titled “Extraordinary Women — Women who had an impact in the biblical days and still impact our lives even today,” will feature Elder Laverne Harmon, evangelist Alecia DeFrank, evangelist Sonya Boatwright, Sister Angela Stanton, Sister Brandi Breese and a summation from Elder Lisa McCoy, womenhood president.

Spaghetti dinner served at St. Thomas

VIENNA – St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4453 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, will hold a spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The event will include a reverse raffle, with more than $3,000 in prizes given away. 

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the parish office or at the door.

Regional meeting set for Saturday night

SHARON – United Holiness College of Bishops and Apostles will hold its first Western Pennsylvania regional meeting at 7 p.m. Saturday at Temple of Praise Cathedral Church of God in Christ, 170 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon. 

The guest speaker will be Bishop Gary Brown, regional prelate and pastor of Rehoboth Temple Church of Erie. Bishop Melvin Baker is host pastor. The public is invited to attend.

Brother trio to perform concert at church

MERCER – The 3 Heath Brothers, a male trio from Thomasville, N.C., will present a concert at 7 p.m. today at Wayside Community Church, 1911 Mercer-Grove City Road.

The trio is made up of three brothers; 16-year-old twins and their 18-year-old brother. Their harmony and spirit has enabled them to receive numerous awards and recognition. They have been invited to sing on the “main stage” at the National Quartet Convention to be held in September in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
